‘Serial slingshot’ suspect who terrorized California neighborhood arrested

An 81-year-old man who investigators say terrorized a southern California neighborhood for years with a slingshot has been arrested, police said.

While conducting an investigation, detectives “learned that during the course of 9-10 years, dozens of citizens were being victimized by a serial slingshot shooter”, the Asuza police department said in a statement.

The man is suspected of breaking windows and car windshields and of narrowly missing people with ball bearings shot from a slingshot, the statement said. No injuries were reported.

The Pope has allegedly said there are too many homosexual men entering Italian seminaries and they should be kept out, claiming there is “too much faggotry” among those training for the priesthood.

Francis used the Italian word frociaggine, which translates as “faggotry”, in a closed-door meeting with Italian bishops on May 20 when the subject of admitting gay men to seminaries was raised by participants, the Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported.

Hong Kong police make threatening phone call to prodemocracy supporter living in Canada

Hong Kong national-security police recently threatened a man from the city, who is seeking refuge in Canada, after he reneged on a deal to spy for China on prodemocracy activists living in Vancouver, according to an audio recording obtained by The Globe and Mail.

This is one of the rare instances where a recording has surfaced of someone being intimidated in Canada by a Chinese state-security official.

The Canadian military’s ability to help battle forest fires will be limited this year because of reduced readiness and the need to send troops to Latvia, warns the country’s top general.

Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre also complained that the use of military personnel in fighting wildfires in Canada has become, in some cases, “wickedly wasteful.”

NDP, unions urge Trudeau to introduce program letting illegal alien invaders stay

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and his party’s MPs joined unions and community groups Monday to ask Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to introduce a broad program that would let thousands of migrants living in Canada without valid documents remain in the country.

Immigration Minister Marc Miller is preparing a plan to discuss with the cabinet, which meets Tuesday and again before Parliament breaks for the summer in June. It would propose that people living in Canada without legal status – including former international students whose study permits have expired – be given a chance to regularize their status and gain permanent residence.

‘They’re out of control’: flock of 100 feral chickens torments village of Snettisham

The clucking nuisance of about 100 feral chickens has left residents of a Norfolk village spitting feathers, with locals claiming the birds destroy their gardens and keep them awake.

Dwellers in Snettisham, Norfolk, have said their life is being made “hell” as the chickens swarm in from a nearby wood. It is unclear who owns the land the chickens live on, but villagers believe numbers have soared recently.
