JOLO CITY, Philippines — Ben Tattoo stood at the jailhouse door, looking resentful as he stuck his arms through the bars. Handed an orange t-shirt that branded him a detainee, he covered his face with it.

As a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group, Tattoo used to be the one who took prisoners and made them wear orange shirts.

In 2015, he kidnapped Canadians Robert Hall and John Ridsdel from a marina in the southern Philippines. When no ransoms were paid, he coldly beheaded them, on video for the world to see.

Salman Rushdie has lost sight in one eye and the use of one hand after the attack he suffered while preparing to deliver a lecture in New York state two months ago, his agent has confirmed.

The 75-year-old author, who received death threats from Iran in the 1980s after his novel The Satanic Verses was published, was stabbed in the neck and torso as he came on stage to give a talk on artistic freedom at the Chautauqua Institution on 12 August.

Context: in 1085, Alfonso VI of Leon-Castile captured the Muslim city of Toledo, thereby formally initiating the Reconquista. Great was the lamentation among Muslims and great the rejoicing among Christians. Why did Sweden turn Right-wing?

Swedish politics’ Rightward shift has dented the country’s image as the spiritual home of the liberal Left. Indeed, such was the success Sweden’s Right-wing coalition that the New York Times proclaimed that ‘Sweden is becoming unbearable’ on the day of the election.

Much of this nervousness can be put down to the growing influence of the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats. While not directly in power, the party’s political support for the Right-wing coalition means that they can exert pressure on their more moderate counterparts to reconsider Sweden’s experiment in mass immigration.

In March 2022, a prominent Muslim preacher, Uthman Ibn Farooq, told the world he had been stabbed in downtown San Diego by a man shouting anti-Muslim slurs at him. Why did they kidnap and nearly behead Lola? For fun?

Horror hits France every day and it’s almost impossible to keep up with the news. A war of blood and conquest, often quietly, is declared against its inhabitants. Students are subjected to the law of numbers and humiliations are daily fare in the “neighborhoods”.

Any Frenchman, on the street and in transport, can be verbally assaulted, stabbed or murdered, because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The elderly, regardless of their age, are attacked with impunity. Younger girls are sexually assaulted.

Paris murder: Killing of Lola, 12, sparks immigration row in France

Grief and outrage in France over the murder of a 12-year-old girl found dumped in a plastic trunk in Paris has turned into a political row over the migrant status of the suspect.

Lola’s body was found last Friday in a courtyard outside the apartment block where she lived.

A 24-year-old woman has been remanded in custody on suspicion of murder, rape as well as acts of torture.

It has also emerged she is an Algerian immigrant under orders to leave France.

Afghan woman hangs herself to avoid being stoned to death in public by Taliban

An Afghan woman has hanged herself to avoid being stoned to death in public by Taliban forces after she was accused of running off with a married man.

The 24-year-old woman, named locally as Salima, was caught with the married man by the Taliban after she ran away from her home in Ghor Province, central Afghanistan, on October 10.

Salima, who was also married, was sentenced to death for adultery and was due to be stoned on Friday, while her lover, identified locally as Sirajuddin, was shot dead by the Taliban.

A Canadian national who lived in southern California was sentenced to 20 years in U.S. prison on Monday for helping at least a half-dozen Canadians and Americans join the Islamic State group in Syria in 2013 and 2014 — including the first known American to die fighting for the militant organization.

Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi directly funded “violent acts of terrorism,” including the kidnapping and killing of people in Syria, said U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman in a statement.

Conservative Muslims join forces with Christian right on Michigan book bans

A recent school board meeting at which about 1,000 people gathered in Dearborn, Michigan, to pressure district officials to censor books with LGBTQ+ themes was in most ways similar to hundreds of other recent book ban hearings across the US.

… At the meeting’s conclusion, Dearborn resident Jackson Wagner stood up and declared that he was gay, and told the audience: “The far right in this country despises us all.

“Dearborn should be a city where everyone knows they’re safe and loved and supported,” he continued. Moments later, boos rained down as he concluded his brief speech, and he was confronted by Anoun, who had to be ordered back to his seat by police.

But Muslims aren’t terrorists like those awful “far-right” parents but I’d suggest a change of address for Mr. Wagner.
