Post 10/7 Looks a Lot Like Post 9/11, Only Worse

News that the U.S. will build a “temporary pier” in the Mediterranean Sea to facilitate transfer of humanitarian aid to the Hamas-occupied Gaza Strip should tickle the déjà vu receptors of anyone who was politically aware at the dawn of the 21st century.

After the worst terrorist attack against the U.S. in its 225-year history on September 11, 2001, “the world” reacted sympathetically at first. But it didn’t last long. After the worst terrorist attack against Israel in its 75-year history on October 7, 2023, the world’s sympathy was as ephemeral as an Ivy League “pro-Palestine” hunger strike.

The U.S. and Israel were consoled and pitied – until they fought back. Then they were suddenly portrayed as aggressive colonizing villains, each seeking to impose its version of “empire” on an oppressed “other” while meting out “collective punishment.”

LILLEY: Jewish Canadians feel abandoned by politicians, police and you

Two weeks ago, I was hearing a disturbing message from two young Canadians while having lunch at a downtown Toronto cafe.

They were questioning whether it’s still safe to be a Jew in Canada.

This week, I was sitting with two rabbis in Thornhill as they raised the same questions for themselves and their congregations.

I don’t blame them for feeling that way.

But to be clear politicians count votes not principles and the police are a militia who follow the orders of our pols.

Neither politicians or the police were ever your friend.

In London for a short visit this week, I decided to take a look at the latest demonstration organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) against what it refers to as the ‘genocide in Gaza.’ The weekly mass demonstrations in the British capital in support of the Palestinian side in the Gaza war have acquired significance beyond the specific context of British foreign policy.

After criticism, Ottawa pledges $1-million to support Hamas sexual-violence victims

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada is pledging $1 million to support victims of sexual violence by Hamas in Israel during last October’s attacks.

SHOCKA! Islamist Vote Whore Trudeau will resume funding Hamas via UNRWA

The Canadian government has confirmed it will restore funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen confirmed the move at a press conference Friday in Mississauga, Ont.

Canada suspended funding to UNRWA in January after Israel alleged 12 employees of the aid agency were involved in some capacity in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

‘Troubling’ risk assessment report for “Calgary man” who claimed to be member of ISIS: judge

A report examining the risk posed by a Calgary man who claimed to be a member of ISIS and appeared to be planning to kill gay people in the city was described by a judge as “troubling.”

Zakarya Hussein, 20, pleaded guilty in December to facilitating terrorist activity.

A sentencing hearing was supposed to take place Thursday but was delayed because a forensic assessment report was received by lawyers and the judge only in the last day or two.

Justice Harry Van Harten agreed to the adjournment but first noted the risk assessment conducted on Hussein by a psychiatrist was “kind of troubling.”
