Global Affairs Canada says in a statement that Minister Mélanie Joly travelled to the Middle East through Greece, the destination of the first two airlifts of Canadians out of Israel.

Israel has destroyed a Palestinian pizzeria that used a picture of an elderly woman held hostage by Hamas in its advertising.

As news spread over the weekend that gunmen from Hamas, the Palestinian faction that governs the Gaza Strip, had killed hundreds and taken hostages in a surprise attack on Israel, Zarefah Baroud watched in horror from Seattle.
Ms. Baroud, a doctoral student and activist who is Palestinian American, said she felt deep sadness for the Israelis who were killed and kidnapped. And she was immediately worried that those killings would be “used to justify genocide” against Palestinians.
Anti-Israel protests have been held in a ‘day of jihad’ across the world today after former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal demanded thousands of Muslims take to the streets to demonstrate amid the ongoing conflict.
The demonstrations were staged after Friday prayers in Muslim communities around the world – including in Iraq, Japan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka – condemning Israel’s attacks on Gaza and showing support for Palestinians in the wake of the deadly surprise attack launched by Hamas terrorists in southern Israel.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered Friday in Tahrir Square in the centre of Baghdad, and similar protests are expected in Syria and other Arab countries following afternoon prayers.

A diplomat at Israel’s embassy in China has been injured in an apparent stabbing in Beijing.
The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed that the man had been attacked in the street and was now in a stable condition in hospital.

A teacher has been killed and two others seriously injured during a knife attack at a school in France on Friday morning as the suspect allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar,” according to local media.
The knife-wielding suspect stabbed the assistant principal of the school and a gym teacher at the City School Gambetta-Carnot, French outlet BFMTV reported.
The suspect is believed to be about 20 years old and his brother was also arrested.

After 24 hours of outrage, Ontario NDP MPP Sarah Jama has apologized.
On Tuesday, Jama posted on Twitter that she was “reflecting on my role as a politician who is participating in this settler colonial system, and I ask that all politicians do the same. #FreePalastine (sic).” This was followed by a lengthy statement in which she condemned Israel, where, she said, “For 75 years, violence and retaliation rooted in settler colonialism have taken the lives of far too many innocent people.”
Hamas’s terrorist invasion of Israel on Oct. 7 left unspeakable scenes in its wake. The elderly murdered or abducted, children stolen, dead bodies desecrated, the murder of 260 young people at an Israeli rave for peace and the kidnapping of dozens more. Witnesses report that women were raped beside the bodies of their friends and then killed in turn.
Eighty years ago, such scenes were not uncommon at the edge of death pits, during ghetto liquidations and at the threshold of the gas chambers. And here we are in 2023, seeing them again, only this time in Israel.
TEL AVIV—Hamas militants who flooded into southern Israel from Gaza last weekend carried detailed maps of the towns and military bases that they targeted. Some also carried tactical guides identifying weak spots on Israeli army armored vehicles.
The documents, written in Arabic, were recovered from the sites of attacks or bodies of dead Hamas fighters by Israeli civilians, soldiers and emergency personnel and seen by The Wall Street Journal. Authorities are examining the trove, Israeli officials said.
Taken together, the documents indicate that Hamas set out from the start to target not just military installations, but to attack civilian population centers and to take hostages, and they offer evidence of the scale of Hamas’s intelligence-gathering and the degree of planning for the assault.
A car full of Israeli civilians tried to escape Kibbutz Be’eri, which was under Hamas attack. Hamas burned them alive. Israeli soldiers found their charred corpses inside the car; you can see it if you click here, which I encourage to do only so you will understand that what Hamas did was literally a holocaust—a burnt offering to whatever demonic god they worship.
Maybe the only good thing to emerge so far from this unspeakable horror is that the moral bankruptcy of the progressive Left has been unmasked. On many college campuses, including the Ivy League, protesters have gathered to mark with good cheer the Hamas holocaust. Black Lives Matter chapters have issued statements of solidarity with the killers of babies and others. Progressive politicians across the West have sounded their support for Hamas. Exuberant Muslim mobs in Western capitals have declared their enthusiasm for the slaughter.
