The Canadian government is still calling for an investigation into Israel’s destruction nearly a month ago of a large water facility in an area of the Gaza Strip where Ottawa is known for supporting Palestinians.
The office of the International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen says the incident adds to a “catastrophic” humanitarian situation.
“Canada has contacted the Israeli government for more information on this incident and we call for an investigation,” said spokeswoman Olivia Batten.

It wasn’t just the world that changed the day Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year. The world of British Jews did too, as mutating strains of anti-Semitism worked their way beyond smashed shopfronts and violent protests and into the domestic and everyday. The president of CUPE Ontario is under fire from some of the union’s Jewish members for reposting a social media post on Facebook.

Columbia University’s president, Nemat Shafik, resigned on Wednesday after months of far-reaching fury over her handling of pro-Palestinian demonstrations and questions over her management of a bitterly divided campus.
She was the third leader of an Ivy League university to resign in about eight months following maligned appearances before Congress about antisemitism on their campuses.
Dr. Shafik, an economist who spent much of her career in London, said in a letter to the Columbia community that while she felt the campus had made progress in some important areas, it had also been a period of turmoil “where it has been difficult to overcome divergent views across our community.”
This changes nothing.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on August 11 told Iran’s acting foreign minister that Beijing supports the Islamic Republic defending its “sovereignty, security, and national dignity.” Wang said that killing Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh, the terrorist group’s political leader, in Tehran violated Iran’s sovereignty and threatened regional stability.
As countries around the world pressure Iran not to strike Israel — Tehran blames the Jewish state for the bomb that killed Haniyeh on July 31 — China was, in effect, publicly goading Iran to act.
An unnamed source in Iran’s Supreme National Security Council told Kuwaiti newspaper al Jarida that a high-ranking American security delegation, mediated by Oman, secretly traveled to Tehran, the Kuwaiti paper wrote on Wednesday.
Fox News reported that the delegation allegedly sought to deliver messages to Tehran in order to de-escalate the tensions in the region between Iran and Israel, al Jarida noted in their reporting of the story.

VANCOUVER – Thirteen people have been charged with mischief over accusations they blocked the Vancouver Canadian National Railway line for hours during what police said was an unlawful protest last May.
The Vancouver Police Department says in a news release the BC Prosecution Service approved charges on Monday, following the police investigation into the pro-Palestinian protest on May 31.
One-quarter of Canadians believe that anti-Indigenous racism and antisemitism are very serious problems in Canada, according to a new national poll.
The poll, which was conducted by Leger for the Association for Canadian Studies, was released just weeks after Statistics Canada hate-crime data revealed that antisemitism accounted for about 70 per cent of religiously motivated hate crimes in 2023, despite Jewish people accounting for only about two per cent of the nation’s population. Anti-Indigenous sentiment was present in about three per cent of race-based hate crimes, while Indigenous people account for about five per cent of Canada’s population.
The Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist group Hamas has chosen arch-terrorist Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7, 2023, atrocities against thousands of Israelis, as the chairman of its “political bureau.” Sinwar, who has been hiding in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas-led attack, will take over from Ismail Haniyeh, the former chairman of the group’s “political bureau,” who was killed in the Iranian capital of Tehran on July 31.
In a sensational domestic terrorism case, late last month, the RCMP arrested an ISIS-inspired father-son duo who were allegedly plotting to carry out a mass casualty attack in Toronto. It was later revealed that Canadian authorities had inexplicably permitted the father to immigrate to Canada and granted him citizenship, despite allegedly appearing in an ISIS propaganda video in which he is seen dismembering a prisoner.
Within any group of people, there are large disagreements. Jews are certainly no different, having probably as many opinions on the goings-on in the Middle East as there are Jewish people. Even those who support Israel are on a spectrum, with some being more critical of Israeli actions and policies, and others being more supportive.
We’re all entitled to our own perspectives (though not facts). That means that those Jews who aren’t supportive of Israeli actions are certainly entitled to a voice — as individuals.
Israel Has Finally Been Driven Sane, and not a moment too soon. The war in Gaza may be the last chance for the Liberal West to stop the decline that we all feel but have trouble naming.
The rest of western civilization is still crazy… Here is the crux of it. Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and their lord and master Iran have long enjoyed the devil’s own advantage over The West. Let me make one thing very clear; we are The West. This is life and death stuff and we have been compromised.
One hostage held by Hamas in Gaza has been killed by the Hamas terrorist assigned to guard him, and another two female hostages have been seriously injured, the spokesperson of the Hamas armed wing, Abu Obeida, announced on Telegram on Monday.
The terrorist group stated that a committee was formed to investigate the incident and will announce the details later.
I would totally trust an Hamas inquiry.
