British workers are leading the world in refusing to return to the office, despite a push by ministers to kickstart the commuter economy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

New figures show the UK now tops the table of nations where workers would rather quit or find a new job than return to the office five days a week.

Women are said to be the ones leading the so-called ‘flexidus’ of staff demanding a mixture of remote and in-office working, with 52 per cent admitting they have left or have considered leaving their jobs over a ‘lack of flexibility’.

It’s nice to not have to think about COVID-19 all the time these days. People don’t really talk about it much anymore.

The anticipated hostility between the masked and unmasked never materialized. It was all a social media creation. People have been easygoing and respectful of each other’s choices. As for the division of society into places that do and don’t require voluntary vaccine passports, that never really happened either.

Unexplained severe acute hepatitis cases among children continue to emerge in Canada and around the world, and while health officials desperately search for a cause of the mysterious illness, researchers are pointing to a possible link to COVID-19.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday there are now at least 348 probable cases of severe acute hepatitis — or inflammation of the liver — in children under investigation worldwide, which aren’t caused by the usual hepatitis viruses or any other clear source.

On a visit to DC this week I discovered something everybody might know. Which is that dwellers in the swamp still wear masks. Unlike most New Yorkers, the DC crowd still like to cover their faces as they walk down the streets. If you get into a lift unmasked they still glare at you like New Yorkers did a couple of years ago.

But two years into the pandemic, health officials in some countries are questioning the merits of repeated, mass testing when it comes to containing infections, particularly considering the billions it costs.

Chief among them is Denmark, which championed one of the world’s most prolific COVID testing regimes early on. Lawmakers are now demanding a close study of whether that policy was effective.

Toronto Mayor John Tory has ended the city’s COVID-19 emergency declaration.

The emergency was first declared on March 23, 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact the world.

It was the first official emergency declared in the history of modern Toronto, City officials said.
