A survey of business owners conducted by audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG shows a significant 62 per cent are making or planning vaccine mandates for their workers. In some cases, they also want customers to show proof of vaccination.

Ontario is reporting its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in more than two months as transmission of the virus continues to increase amid a Delta-driven fourth wave of the pandemic.
The Ministry of Health says that there were 650 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus confirmed by the province’s labs on Thursday, up from 510 at this time last week.

Today, Mayor John Tory was joined by City Manager Chris Murray and Chief People Officer Omo Akintan to announce a new mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring all City of Toronto employees to receive both doses of the vaccine.
With the health and safety of residents, staff and the community key priorities for the City, this new policy demonstrates a commitment to taking every precaution to protect staff and visitors in City workplaces from COVID-19. The full policy is being finalized now and will be made public in the coming days.

Staff who have not been vaccinated or who do not disclose their vaccination status by then will be required to attend mandatory education about the benefits of vaccination.

A British public health study has found that protection from either of the two most commonly used COVID-19 vaccines against the now prevalent Delta variant of the coronavirus weakens within three months.
It also found that those who get infected after receiving two shots of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or the AstraZeneca vaccine may be of greater risk to others than under previous variants of the coronavirus.

As Justin Trudeau pushes for mandatory vaccination of federal public servants and those working in federally regulated sectors, a Department of National Defence web page tells employees that while vaccination is encouraged, management “cannot require a public servant to get a vaccine, nor is mandatory vaccination supported under Canadian law.”
The university imposed mandatory vaccination for students and staff returning to on-campus learning. In an email sent to students, school leadership stated that approximately 600 students have yet to fulfill the vaccination mandates, or at least they have yet to upload a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination record.

President of largest public sector union ‘will not stand’ for termination of unvaccinated civil servants
OTTAWA — The Public Service Alliance of Canada president says he “will not stand for the termination” of federal public servants who refuse to get vaccinated, after Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau warned of “consequences” for those civil servants.
In an interview with CTV News, Chris Aylward said “it’s very concerning to us when national party leaders are making statements around discipline around terminations when it comes to these vaccinations. That is totally unacceptable to us.”

But on Tuesday — just four days later — PSAC, the largest union of the Canadian federal public sector, made such a sharp 180-degree turn it has likely left Trudeau and union leadership with whiplash.
“We need these strong clear mandates,” de Blasio said, describing New York City as a “miraculous place literally full of wonders” only available to the vaccinated. “And if you’re vaccinated, all of that’s going to open up to you. You’ll have the key, you can open the door. If you’re unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things,” he said, adding that it is time for people to “see vaccination as literally necessary to living a good and full and healthy life.”

The Canadian federal government announced last Friday that starting in October, COVID-19 jabs will be required to travel domestically by air, train, or boat.
An Ontario PC MPP, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Rebel News that all party MPPs suspected of not having been vaccinated against COVID-19 are being warned by party leaders that they have until Thursday to get the shot. Failing to do so, they face being kicked from the PC party caucus.

TORONTO — Ontario is putting the brakes on any further reopening ahead of a “difficult fall and winter” as the province reveals new vaccine policies for high-risk settings.
Employees, staff, contractors, students, and volunteers at hospitals and home and community care settings will, at a minimum, have to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, have a medical reason for not being vaccinated, or complete a vaccination educational session.
