The United Nations’ Panel of Experts on Libya is recommending that the UN Security Council impose sanctions on Ahmed Gadalla, a globe-trotting Libyan financier who is a permanent resident of Canada.

Mr. Gadalla, 46, and two of his foreign-based companies are on a list of individuals and entities accused of violating the UN arms embargo against Libya, according to the panel’s 2026 final report to the UN Security Council.

Imposed in 2011, the UN arms embargo prohibits the transfer of military equipment, such as weapons and armoured vehicles, to Libya, save for certain exceptions.

A Montreal man is wanted by the RCMP for terrorism, but Canada won’t take him back

Wassim Boughadou is wanted by the RCMP for terrorism. He insists he is “absolutely” willing to fly home from Turkey to surrender to police.

But the Montreal-born 34-year-old claims he can’t because Global Affairs Canada won’t let him.

“I am in a limbo,” he wrote in a text message, part of a cache of documents obtained by Global News that have gone unreported until now.

That was the day when Canadian prime minister William Mackenzie King and U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed the Ogdensburg Agreement that defined the principle of the joint defence of North America.

The agreement, drafted in pencil and without consultation with either cabinet, established the Permanent Joint Board of Defence that has been in place ever since.

U.S. links Toronto consulate shooting to alleged Iranian-backed commander

An Iraqi national charged in the United States with terrorism offences has been linked by prosecutors to the March shooting outside the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto back in March.

U.S. prosecutors allege Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi and others were behind the Toronto attack, as well as a second attack targeting a synagogue in Canada, while also coordinating nearly 20 attacks across Europe tied to an Iranian-backed militant network.

A former colleague of mine recently sold his home in Montreal and made “aliyah” by moving to Israel with his wife. Aliyah, a Hebrew word, literally means “rise” or “ascent,” but Jewish people define it as immigrating to Israel.

My former colleague isn’t alone. More and more Jews are leaving Canada for Israel. According to the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem, Canadian aliyah rose a record 51 per cent in 2025 from 2023. They are leaving this country at record rates and many are relocating to the United States, as well.

US Secretary of State Official Weighs In on stupid woke Canadian University DEI Complaint ruling

U.S. Under Secretary of State Sarah Rogers has again spoken out on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in Canada, this time commenting on a tribunal ruling that found views opposing “systemic racism” theories are not grounded in political or legal principles.

The decision involves a Simon Fraser University political science professor who was denied a job because he did not support DEI.

The B.C. human rights tribunal decided against holding a hearing on the issue last month. Adjudicator Devyn Cousineau said in her April 15 ruling that the educator had no reasonable likelihood of proving that he was denied the position because of his political views, because opposition to DEI did not constitute a political stance under the law.
