It may be common among Canadian academics and some policymakers to identify non-Indigenous citizens of Canada as “settlers” — European-descended people who colonized the country — but most Canadians don’t see themselves that way, according to a new Leger Marketing poll.

I’m gonna go one better than the settler thing and declare myself a refugee.

Within the world of statistics and reporting, it has become fashionable to attribute any and all disparities and inequities to discrimination. This is often either grossly exaggerated or, in some cases, simply not true. With the selective omission of facts, studies — motivated by confirmation bias — are often rationalized, post hoc, into an urgent issue that requires societal change.

The boss of a Minneapolis food pantry, funded by city taxpayers, has banned white people from taking advantage of the resource.

Mykela ‘Keiko’ Jackson used a Minnesota State grant to launch the Food Trap Project Bodega designed to help poor and hungry residents living close to the Sanctuary Covenant Church in the north of the city.

Atax-funded organization sent “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Belonging Kits” to 300 daycares in Wisconsin this year that push leftist activism and expose very young children to racial hatred and queer relationships. The kits included nearly two dozen identity politics books for toddlers, “multicultural” play dough in six skin tones, a “Chilean rain stick,” and 12 “Diverse Family Structures” posters from Kaplan Early Learning Company that depict homosexual couples with children.

In America, an inordinate number of so-called “scientific” studies are subject to what’s called the “replication (or reproducibility) crisis.” If someone publishes a study that feeds into leftist shibboleths, no matter how poorly done the study is (small sampling, foolish assumptions, bad math, etc.), the results are widely trumpeted and become embedded in the popular consciousness. That the study cannot be replicated (run again from scratch) or reproduced (subject to a new analysis of the study’s data)—and often nobody even tries to do these things—is irrelevant. The narrative overrides the scientific method.
