A veteran Canadian MP met three times with the ambassador of a country in the crosshairs of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, leading CSIS to warn the parliamentarian away from further interactions, CBC News has learned.
“You just cast a shadow of doubt over everyone,” the MP said, speaking confidentially because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.
“Once you have that doubt placed on you, I don’t know how you recover.”
CBC News is not identifying the country in question in order to protect the MP’s identity.
CBC and the MP seem to suggest CSIS was out of line by doing their job.

Poilievre called for an investigation into the foundation earlier this week, posting on Twitter about a need to know who “got rich” as a result of donations to the foundation, as well as “who got paid and who got privilege.”

Parents Say They Weren’t Notified After Trans Teacher Allegedly Threatened To Shoot Up School
Parents of students at Fox Chapel Middle School in Hernando County, Florida, are demanding answers from the district after a teacher made concerning comments allegedly made about harming children and themselves. Although the district investigated the comments and found them concerning, the teacher was not fired and is back in the classroom.

Protest Surrounds Toronto School’s Drag Performance for Pink Shirt Day
A Toronto District School Board (TDSB) school hosted a performance by a drag star, leading protesters and counterprotesters to gather outside.
The performance was part of an assembly at York Mills Collegiate Institute on April 12 for Pink Shirt Day, a day to raise awareness about bullying. Some have taken the day as an occasion to focus on bullying against LGBTQ+ people specifically.

McGill student newspaper drops ‘McGill’ from name due to ‘violent, colonial and racist origins’
Saying that McGill University has exhibited “continued indifference toward its violent, colonial and racist origins,” the Tribune has dropped the name of McGill from its masthead.
The publication’s decision is based on the fact that James McGill (1744-1813) was a slave owner and profited in part from the international slave trade.

China approved “provision of lethal aid” to Russia in its war in Ukraine earlier this year and planned to disguise military equipment as civilian items, according to a U.S. intercept of Russian intelligence revealed in leaked secret documents.
