A New York Times op-ed advocates for taking organs from people who are in comas to improve transplant rates.

In a July 30, 2025, op-ed, the authors say that we should broaden the definition of death “to include irreversibly comatose patients on life support. Using this definition, these patients would be legally dead regardless of whether a machine restored the beating of their heart.”

Critics of a new homeless shelter on Adelaide St. are being told to pluck out their “f—— eyes” in a series of flyers loaded with profanity and religious themes.

“Don’t want to see homeless people? House them, you d— goon,” one flyer says, above smaller script that reads: “God says lazy-a– nimbies go to hell. Read Matthew 25:44-46.”

Parents accused of attempting to murder daughter outside American school in ‘honor killing’ ruled “not guilty”

A Washington couple accused of trying to strangle their teenage daughter in an alleged ‘honor killing’ outside a suburban high school have both been found not guilty of attempted murder.

Ihsan and Zahraa Ali stood trial for the shocking broad-daylight attack last fall outside Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington State where prosecutors said the pair tried to kill their 17-year-old daughter after she refused an arranged marriage.

After three days of deliberations, jurors convicted Ihsan Ali of assault and unlawful imprisonment.

Transgender serial sex offender gets indefinite sentence after TMU attack. Judge ‘alarmed’ by transfer to female jail

A Toronto judge has designated a repeat sex offender as dangerous and handed down an indefinite prison sentence — while expressing concern that the prisoner, who identifies as transgender, was granted a transfer to a women’s detention facility.

In a sentencing decision released last week, Ontario Court Justice Brock Jones said he was “alarmed” to learn that Charles Waddling-Leeson had been moved to a provincial women’s detention facility after starting a gender transition from male to female while in custody.

Auschwitz museum orders visiting Israeli soldiers to remove flags

A delegation of Israeli soldiers visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum have been ordered to remove national flags during an annual ceremony.

In what is believed to be the first time such an order has occurred at the event, the “humiliating” incident was blamed on “antisemitism and an attempt to reshape the historical narrative” by a member of the delegation.

Lion Electric will not respect warranties on school buses sold in United States

MONTREAL — Quebec vehicle-maker Lion Electric will no longer honour warranties on school buses and trucks sold in the United States, leaving clients south of the border in the lurch.

After seeking protection from its creditors in December, the struggling manufacturer was acquired by a group of Quebec investors in May with a plan to focus exclusively on electric school buses assembled and sold in the province. The company has retained its manufacturing plant in St-Jérôme, Que.

Earlier this month, the court-appointed monitor overseeing Lion’s restructuring sent a letter to U.S. clients informing them that their warranties and purchase orders have been voided.
