Swiss man jailed after saying women and men have different skeletons

A Swiss musician claims to have been imprisoned for a post on social media in which he said that skeletons can only be male or female.

Emanuel Brünisholz was convicted of hate speech and fined by a court in the Swiss canton of Bern over the Facebook post, which also suggested that trans people were mentally ill.

When he refused to pay the fine, Brünisholz was instead sentenced to ten days in prison and began his sentence on Tuesday.

TTC employee and customer charged after allegedly stabbing each other at subway station

A TTC employee and a customer have been charged after they allegedly stabbed each other at a downtown subway station last week.

Toronto police said a call came in for a stabbing at TMU Station, formerly named Dundas Station, on the afternoon of Nov. 26.

Police initially told reporters that only a TTC employee was stabbed and that a male was subsequently arrested.

‘Holding my breath:’ Fear in Ottawa after Trump tirade against Somali immigrants

Somali Canadians living in Ottawa have condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s tirade against Somali immigrants and their country, saying it has stoked fear and concern within the local community.

Trump’s invective came during a cabinet meeting Tuesday, soon after reports that federal authorities were preparing a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota focused on Somalis living illegally in the U.S.

Trump called Somali immigrants “garbage” who “contribute nothing” to the U.S. and said “I don’t want them in our country.”

Activists attack Crown Jewels with apple crumble and custard at the Tower of London

Four people have been arrested after activists smothered apple crumble and custard over a glass case containing the Crown Jewels inside the Tower of London, this morning.

The campaigners, who have identified themselves as members of Take Back Power, then unfurled a sign saying: ‘Democracy has crumbled – tax the rich’.

Take Back Power said it is a new, nonviolent civil-resistance group demanding the UK government establishes a ‘permanent citizen’s assembly – a House of the People, which has the power to tax extreme wealth and fix Britain’.

DUBLIN — “Welcome to Ireland, Rosie,” said the woman walking toward her as she headed back from the store on Halloween night with candy. The passerby — a total stranger to Rosie O’Donnell — added blithely: “We hate him, too.”

Everyone here seems to recognize the American entertainer and know why she left the United States to move here in January.

“I felt on the verge of crying when I was there, when he got elected,” O’Donnell told an Irish television audience during a talk show appearance in March.
