‘Straight people’ to blame for LGBT film Bros’s dismal box-office debut says so called “Star”

Actor and screenwriter Billy Eichner is upset after Bros underperformed in its opening box-office weekend, saying, “Straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up.”

In its debut weekend, Bros came in at No. 4, grossing $4.8 million despite opening on 3,350 screens — three spots behind Paramount’s Smile, which also debuted and grossed $22 million.

Same crap was thrown when Brokeback molehill was released. They keep telling us that Gays etc are 10% of the population. If that were true and even half attended then Brokeback 2.0 would be a huge success.

Hockey Canada used player fees to build a second fund for sexual assault claims

Several years after Hockey Canada began using player registration fees to build a large financial reserve known as the National Equity Fund to cover sexual assault claims and other lawsuits, it channelled a significant portion of that money into a second multimillion-dollar fund for similar purposes.

Known as the Participants Legacy Trust Fund, the reserve was created by the organization and its members with more than $7.1-million from the National Equity Fund. The money was earmarked “for matters including but not limited to sexual abuse,” according to Hockey Canada documents obtained by The Globe and Mail.

They needed a 2nd fund???

The woketards at TheWrap assured us Bros, an R-rated, homosexual romantic comedy released in 3,350 theaters, would — and I quote — “Kick Off Box Office Revival.”

Canada remains fascinated by the symbolic side of Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine

… The latest example of Putin’s alleged deviousness has to do with leaks in an undersea Russian gas pipeline that traverses the Baltic.

The pro-Ukraine side blames Russia. Moscow, they say, is responsible for deliberately causing the leak.

Why would Russia sabotage its own pipeline? The pro-Ukraine side provides no coherent explanation beyond the belief, expressed as fact, that Putin is irrationally evil.

By definition, these people say, Russia is playing a dangerous double game. It cannot be treated as a normal country.

This is very odd coming from The Star

Iran says it is due $7bn for release of US-Iranian father and son

Iran is awaiting the release of about $7bn (£6.3bn) in funds frozen abroad, state media said on Sunday, after it allowed an Iranian-American to leave the country and released his son from detention.

Baquer Namazi, 85, was permitted to leave Iran for medical treatment abroad, and his son Siamak, 50, was released from detention in Tehran, the UN said on Saturday.

“With the finalisation of negotiations between Iran and the United States to release the prisoners of both countries, $7bn of Iran’s blocked resources will be released,” said the state news agency, IRNA.

Indonesia football stampede: At least 174 dead after team’s first home defeat in 23 years

At least 174 were killed, many of them trampled to death, at a football match in Indonesia as riots triggered a stampede in one of the deadliest sports events in the world.

Riots broke out after the game ended Saturday evening with host Arema FC of East Java’s Malang city losing to Persebaya of Surabaya 3-2.

Disappointed after their team’s loss, thousands of supporters of Arema, known as “Aremania,” reacted by throwing bottles and other objects at players and football officials. Fans flooded the Kanjuruhan Stadium pitch in protest and demanded that Arema management explain why, after 23 years of undefeated home games, this match ended in a loss, witnesses said.

The death toll is still being revised up and down.

Few federal employees taking part in Indigenous training sessions from public service school

The federal government offers its employees a variety of Indigenous cultural awareness and sensitivity programs through the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS), but participation in the optional sessions is relatively low.

The CSPS offers 15 different training sessions on Indigenous issues known as the Indigenous Training Series, but fewer than a fifth of public servants have attended any one session, according to the numbers from CSPS, which were included in a response to an order paper question submitted by NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo.

The most-attended session, called Reflecting on Cultural Bias: Indigenous Perspectives, has seen 51,430 public servants participate as of June this year.

According to the Treasury Board of Canada, the federal government employed as many as 319,601 people in 2021, meaning the training session with the highest attendance had roughly 16 per cent of public servants take part.

His comments marked the first time a Russian official has openly and explicitly called for the use of atomic bombs in Ukraine.

It came after Moscow admitted it had withdrawn from the key eastern city of Lyman on Saturday in the face of “significant superiority in forces and means”, handing Kyiv a major battlefield victory.

More than 120 people reportedly killed in riot at Indonesian football match

More than 120 football fans have reportedly died after chaos and violence erupted following an Indonesian league football match. Supporters of the Javanese clubs Arema and Persebaya Surabaya clashed after Arema were defeated 3-2 at the match in Malang Regency, East Java.

The head of the Malang Regency health office, Wiyanto Wijoyo, said more than 120 people had died. Officials were still collating the numbers of injured victims, he added.

Trans Army officer accused of conspiring with wife to provide medical info on senior military officers to Russia is released on home detention with NO BOND: Wife also free on $500,000 unsecured bond

The US Army’s first trans officer has been freed on home detention with no bond after being charged with conspiring with her wife to pass military secrets to Russia.

Major Jamie Lee Henry, 39, and Johns Hopkins doctor Anna Gabrielian, 36, were indicted of using their secret security clearance at North Carolina’s Fort Bragg to steal the records from the base’s hospital, according to the Department of Justice.

The pair are now both back home, with Gabrielian freed on a $500,000 unsecured bond.
