Barack Obama has endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee, ending days of speculation over whether he would support her.
Former President Obama and ex-First Lady Michelle Obama said in a joint statement that they believe Ms Harris has the “vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands”.
Mr Obama was reportedly among more than 100 prominent Democrats Ms Harris spoke to after President Joe Biden announced last Sunday he was dropping out of the race.
But they still won’t touch their own armies of terrorists. Or even call them out by name.
The gameplan for the Netanyahu speech was simple. Most Democrats would attend and sit through it. A whole bunch, including Pelosi and Kamala, would officially or unofficially boycott it, and then issue press releases blasting Netanyahu. And then move the party on with the Obama-era business of getting closer to Islamic terrorists, saving Hamas, and turning on Israel.

As Election Day nears in the U.S., striking parallels are emerging – protests against U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, a deteriorating financial situation, and rising tensions on all fronts. It’s hard not to wonder if history is repeating itself.
Unless Kamala denounces Israel, and that is entirely possible, Chicago will be fiery but peaceful if yesterday’s antics are an indication.

Canada’s acceptance of Palestinian refugees from Gaza is setting off alarm bells south of the border.
In a letter Wednesday to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) expressed concern over the program, which he warned could lead to an increased risk of allowing individuals with ties to terror groups easy access to the United States.

Cheatle couldn’t answer basic and crucial questions like how many shell casings were found on the roof of the American Glass Research building where would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Crooks set up shop 10 days ago, and by the time she was done even the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee were calling for her ouster.
Between Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump, the former is often thought to be the better pick for Canada. If that’s the case, that’s a problem of our own making.
Harris is the likely Democratic candidate for November’s United States election now that President Joe Biden has announced on his X account that he will not be running for another term. He endorsed Harris, his vice-president, instead; her candidacy isn’t set in stone, but she’s the likely contender.
When Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s fictional Veep, Selina Meyer, ran for the U.S. presidency, the TV comedy’s writers settled on the most meaningless election slogan they could think of: “Continuity with Change.”
As yet more evidence that America’s politics are stranger than satire, continuity with change is the essence of Kamala Harris’s bid to become the 47th president of the United States.
From a Canadian perspective, the more traditional approach to trade and security that Harris represents would be welcomed in Ottawa.
You’d have to hate Israel very bitterly indeed to wish to deprive it of Iron Dome, its missile defence system that has saved countless lives both before and after October 7. The system consists of ten batteries, with plans for a further five, positioned around the country and at sea at a cost of $50m each.
Yet Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the representative for New York’s 14th district and the figurehead of the progressive wing of the Democrats, openly burst into tears in 2021 when a bill providing $1 billion in new funding to Iron Dome was passed by the House of Representatives.
