When seeking to explain why Donald Trump won on Tuesday, it would make sense to have a more diverse set of guests than a left-wing “antiracist” author and a Republican for Harris. However, MSNBC’s Wednesday morning election coverage was determined to stay in their bubble as co-host Ana Cabreara asked author W. Kamau Bell why Americans accepted Trump’s “mean” campaign of “racism, misogyny, [and] xenophobia.”

… One would presume that people of Central or South American heritage would be angered by Trump’s characterization of migrants coming to America as criminals and security threats.
But it appears one would be mistaken.
In fact, two-thirds of U.S.-born Latinos felt that Trump was not referring to them when he made such remarks on the campaign trail, according to a New York Times-Siena College poll last month.
More surprising, perhaps, is that 51-per-cent majority of Hispanic voters born outside the U.S. felt the same way.

It is the question bedevilling progressive-leaning people north and south of the Canada-U.S. border throughout this raucous, election-filled fall — how has the race against the conservative right become so close?
You hear it from people voting for Democratic contender Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s presidential vote. How on earth is Donald Trump, a convicted felon, an election denier, the man who inspired a mob to stage a deadly riot on Capitol Hill four years ago, even a serious contender?
Just a few days from now, while two major nuclear powers wage war in Europe and the Middle East and a third threatens war in Asia, the world’s strongest democracy may elect to become a fascist state. Many people recognize that this is a dangerous time for the world; many others understand that Donald Trump is a dangerous man for the United States. And yet: Even among those who know that the world at present and Trump as president are each singularly dangerous — that there has been no time on earth so precarious since WWII, and no president so pathological as Trump, ever — there are still some who claim that Trump will not make the world a more dangerous place.

It seems that wherever one turns in the traditional, mainstream liberal media things are in a mess.
Let’s start with the Washington Post. Here is the centerpiece of liberal media in the nation’s capitol, the place made famous in the day by its coverage of Watergate and the rise to movie celebrity of reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
If, after all the votes are counted, Donald Trump is declared the winner of next Tuesday’s U.S. presidential election, his supporters will correctly be able to say that American democracy has given their candidate the right to impose his agenda on the country. And then President Trump will set about destroying that very same democracy.
It would be within his elected mandate to do so, having effectively campaigned on a platform of turning the United States into an authoritarian state under his rule. Do the people who intend to vote for him understand that?
It appears they don’t, or if they do, they don’t care, or they care about other things more. The polls somehow have Mr. Trump in a dead heat with Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. It is agonizing to watch.
The Globe has become unreadable in the past month. Advanced TDS is ugly to witness.
If Donald Trump survives the unhinged belligerence of his campaign, and wins the presidency, it will be splendid news for regimes in China, Russia and Iran. Dictators are his role models. He, too, yearns to be unconstrained by rule of law.
But for Canadians concerned about their own security, Trump’s return would be a national emergency, as he abandons alliances and changes the reasons and goals behind deploying a superpower’s global influence.
Monday evening’s PBS News Hour devoted its first 11 minutes of news — two full segments — to bashing Donald Trump’s long rally at Madison Square Garden in the heart of his hometown of New York City. White House reporter Laura Barron-Lopez actually led with criticism from his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, not news about the rally itself.
During the fall presidential campaign, a Media Research Center study found that hosts of the late-night “comedy” shows told a total of 1,463 jokes about Donald Trump and Kamala Harris — but 1,428 of them were about Trump, and only 35 were about Harris. That’s a whopping 40:1 ratio or almost 98 percent to 2 percent.
