Top-secret recordings of Donald Trump’s Situation Room meetings may have been leaked to two reporters from The New York Times (NYT), White House officials fear.

Excerpts of a new book by two of the newspaper’s top political reporters, Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, include direct quotes from conversations in the highly secure room, according to Axios.

For decades, US presidents have used the Situation Room to deal with major crises facing the country. During Mr Trump’s second term, it has hosted critical talks on the war with Iran and the Epstein files.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds a majority of likely U.S. voters — 60 percent — believes that the constant barrage of negative coverage of President Donald Trump likely contributed to the latest assassination attempt. The national telephone and online survey of 1,076 Americans, conducted April 27-29, shows 41 percent of those surveyed think it “very likely” the media’s one-sided treatment had some influence. A mere 13 percent of respondents said it’s “not at all likely” that the media has some culpability.
