The BBC has demanded that Donald Trump hand over his personal messages in an attempt to prove that he incited the Jan 6 riots.
In a fightback against the US president’s $10bn (£7.5bn) defamation lawsuit, the broadcaster’s lawyers hope to prove in court that he should be held responsible for urging his supporters to storm the US Capitol.
Last year The Telegraph revealed that a speech given by Mr Trump on Jan 6 2021 was spliced together in a Panorama documentary that made it appear as if he was directly inciting the mob in protest against the election result.
Here’s an example of the BBC altering what President Trump said on January 6. I would love to get lazy but legsl citizens that are just pumping out babies to collect welfare that are able-bodied to get l jobs and just get the illegals out. pic.twitter.com/4re7r1SxOP
