Leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) have issued a joint declaration promoting a global standard on proof of vaccination for international travel and calling for the establishment of “global digital health networks” that build on existing digital COVID-19 vaccine passport schemes.
The joint statement followed the conclusion of the G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia, where leaders discussed global challenges and coordinating policies in response, including to future pandemics.

TikTok is spelling out to its European users of the platform that their data can be accessed by employees outside the continent, including in China, amid political and regulatory concerns about Chinese access to user information on the site.
The Chinese-owned social video app is updating its privacy policy to confirm that staff in countries, including China, are allowed to access user data to ensure their experience of the platform is “consistent, enjoyable and safe”.
The other countries where European user data could be accessed by TikTok staff include Brazil, Canada and Israel as well as the US and Singapore, where European user data is stored currently.

Years of internal DHS memos, emails, and documents — obtained via leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, as well as public documents — illustrate an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms.
The work, much of which remains unknown to the American public, came into clearer view earlier this year when DHS announced a new “Disinformation Governance Board”: a panel designed to police misinformation (false information spread unintentionally), disinformation (false information spread intentionally), and malinformation (factual information shared, typically out of context, with harmful intent) that allegedly threatens U.S. interests. While the board was widely ridiculed, immediately scaled back, and then shut down within a few months, other initiatives are underway as DHS pivots to monitoring social media now that its original mandate — the war on terror — has been wound down.

OTTAWA—A judge leading the federal inquiry into the Liberal government’s use of a special emergency law to end the ‘Freedom Convoy’ protests has agreed to hear evidence from Canada’s spy agency at a secret hearing.
In a ruling made public late Wednesday, Justice Paul Rouleau said the federal government asked for a secret hearing — behind closed doors and without other parties present — in order for his commission counsel to examine employees of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service on evidence related to the convoy protest that the agency claims is classified.
It all centres around evidence not yet tabled at the inquiry. And it is unclear what is the subject of the CSIS intelligence that the spy agency wants to protect.

Unnamed foreign “adversaries” may have leveraged the Canadian “freedom movement” protests to advance their own interests, a newly-disclosed intelligence report suggest.
According to previously secret assessments by the Ontario Provincial Police’s (OPP) intelligence branch, the “available information” on Feb. 19 suggested that foreign actors may have pushed support for the movement, which fueled the convoy blockades in Ottawa and across the country, “to protect or enhance their own strategic economic and political interests.”

Convoy inquiry reveals another Canadian intelligence fiasco
… Bizarrely, CSIS, RCMP and OPP have for years failed to understand and master the power of social media. They monitor the obscure hate sites peripatetically. They fail to see patterns, share findings, or dig into identities and connections. Shopify does a better job at it than Canadian security agencies. Perhaps we should retain them.
It is the absence of an aggressive outbound social media strategy that is even more astonishing. No agency smacks down misinformation, calls out lies and disinformation, let alone offers a more Canadian view on issues from race to terrorism. The reason may be that they fear to be seen to be “political.” No other NATO country’s spooks are so meek, they use surrogates.

The Ontario Provincial Police’s intelligence division suggested that the force consider “covert” surveillance into an anti-government group ahead of the Freedom Convoy’s arrival in Ottawa, newly-released documents reveal.
The suggestion came as part of the OPP’s Project HENDON, a more than two-year rolling investigation into “criminal extremism” and “large-scale protest” movements in Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The article cites the Trudeau subsidized far left extremists at Antihate.ca so you know it’s garbage. Still that the OPP is actively surveilling people for “islamophobia” among other crimes of opinion is concerning to anyone who values freedom. We are all criminals now living in a surveillance society.
… There have been lots of moments of high-level intrigue during the past week, but it was Ontario Provincial Police Supt. Patrick Morris who provided the content most likely to be turned into a spy novel.
Since about 2019 or so, Morris testified, police, security and intelligence agencies at all levels across Canada have been keeping their eyes on a “significant amount of protest, dissent, some of which caused us reasonable grounds to suspect or believe that those issues would engage in criminal activity or illegal activity that would have a public safety impact.”
What they’re monitoring are brush fires of dissent that can explode into larger conflagrations, such as the rail blockades of early 2020 that started as an Indigenous land protest in B.C. No doubt Hendon was also keeping an eye on the 2021 election protests that dogged Justin Trudeau, which seemed to be a sneak preview of the convoy.
Pity the authorities didn’t devote an equivalent of the considerable resources expended on the Bouncy Castle uprising to hunt down the perpetrators of the Coastal GasLink terror attack or the massive hate crime arson of some 50 Catholic churches that resulted directly from Trudeau endorsing the Fake Graves Hoax.
I used to cover a great many “events” in the GTA for the blog until I realized that criminalizing dissent had become the pre-occupation of our “law-enforcement” agencies.

I have spoken to someone who admitted to contact with the OPP unit in question and who hung about the periphery of “all sides.” Which isn’t to suggest they were compromised only that it firmed up a generally held assumption that we were all likely “suspects” in some organization’s files.
At one point I feared I was the target of an entrapment effort by another individual, someone I considered a friend.
I have always found it interesting that this person, once very active in certain circles, “disappeared” after I didn’t give him an answer he was obviously pushing for. It was such a ham-fisted effort involving so serious a matter that I believe he knew I suspected something was up. Who knows maybe he was doing me a favour in providing the nudge I needed to step back and reassess my situation and associations.

OTTAWA – Internal documents show the RCMP refused to release the badge numbers of officers who cleared “Freedom Convoy” protesters from the Ambassador Bridge last winter, citing a risk of violence from their supporters.
The situation was detailed in a briefing note and threat assessment prepared for RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki, who was asked to approve the decision because the force recognized it raised questions around transparency.

Records show an RCMP blacklist of bank account holders identified as part of the Freedom Convoy movement was sent by email to lobbyists, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.
