When hundreds of African migrants showed up in Toronto over the summer, there was nowhere in the city’s shelter system to accommodate them all. Many of the asylum seekers ended up sleeping on the streets.
The efforts of three Toronto churches, Revivaltime Tabernacle and Dominion Church International in North York, and Pilgrim Feast Tabernacle in Etobicoke, kept many of those men and women off the streets with food, clothing and beds.
On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that Republicans who bused migrants to sanctuary cities “called the Democrats’ bluff about sanctuary cities,” and the Democrats “look like sanctuary city hypocrites” and “I understand a little, I told you so from the people on the border.”

Hundreds of people — including those seeking asylum — have once again taken to sleeping on Toronto’s streets in front of shelters and churches.
The city’s shelter system is once again at capacity, turning away nearly 300 people a day, the city said Thursday. While it’s continuously moving “dozens” of people from overflowing churches to shelters, hotels or permanent housing where possible, it is nowhere close to meeting demand, said Lindsay Broadhead, the city’s chief communication officer.

On Saturdays a hired bus arrives and unloads what I suspect to be newly arrived “asylum seekers” as many as 30 0r 40 wait outside for processing.

In March, Washington and Ottawa agreed to close Roxham Road, the small alley in Quebec through which thousands of asylum seekers have entered Canada from the United States, bypassing customs. Nearly 40,000 people entered Canada through Roxham Road in 2022; there were a record 91,710 claimants last year.
So despite the closing, why has Canada already processed more than 80,000 applications from asylum seekers so far this year?

More broadly, Statcan notes young people’s mental health has been declining steadily since 2003, with feelings of loneliness rising and attachment to community declining.

Americans are revolting against President Joe Biden and his partisan allies who have done nothing but encourage millions of illegal border crossers to pour into even the smallest U.S. communities.
The Biden White House insists what’s happening at the U.S. Southern border is “not a crisis.” But recent border arrest numbers and a steady stream of shocking footage of illegal border-crossers pouring into border communities suggest otherwise.
For those in denial, an immigrant is just a generic human unit who brings no cultural baggage with him.
It’s commonplace for many conservatives, and others concerned about security, to express alarm about uncontrolled immigration. And while there is an invigorating perennial debate between classical liberals / libertarians and social conservatives about the merits and drawbacks to having open borders, for many, to express too strong a defense of immigration controls—or, worse, ‘repatriation’—is tantamount to racist xenophobia.
We’re here to say that this dismissive attitude—and the general reluctance among policymakers to discuss the socio-economic impacts of mass migration—does a disservice to the many countries that have opened their arms to newcomers. But given recent episodes of crime, riots, and sexual violence, and given the sheer scale of the waves of immigrants now seeking refuge in Europe, we think Europe’s future lies in part with ensuring its cultural survival, which necessarily implies ending immigration.
OTTAWA – Statistics Canada says immigration is almost solely responsible for the largest annual population boom Canada has seen since 1957.
The newly released data shows Canada’s population grew by more than a million people between from July 2022 to July 2023, which represents an increase of about three per cent.
Canada also saw a massive 46 per cent increase in the number of temporary residents in Canada over the same period.
The Liberal party are vicious animals.
Over the weekend, a fight broke out near the 1,163-resident migrant shelter at the former Standard Club, 320 S. Plymouth Court. It was one of several brawls that have erupted at shelters across the city.
Most of the shelters are in residential neighborhoods dominated by small businesses. And the friction between business owners who complain the loitering migrants are destroying their businesses, residents who feel unsafe, and the migrants stuffed into shelters could blow wide open at any time.
