Iran elections: Why young Iranians would welcome return of Shah’s son

On Friday, Iran held parliamentary elections for the first time since nationwide protests in 2022-23. No one is holding their breath for the outcome.

Ideological diversity was non-existent: every candidate was vetted by the Islamic Republic’s Guardian Council, an assembly of 12 clerics controlled by the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamanei.

Elections are important for sustaining the regime’s legitimacy, particularly in the eyes of the Western media — CNN looked forward last week to “major elections” in Iran — but they have little actual political influence.

DEA Halts Weapons-Grade Plutonium En Route to Iran

A Japanese crime syndicate played middleman for the mullahs.

Last week, the Justice Department released charges against Japanese criminal syndicate Yakuza leader Takeshi Ebisawa, who was caught in a Drug Enforcement Administration sting attempting to sell weapons-grade plutonium to Iran. In the midst of the Gaza war, which has seen tensions with Tehran continue to rise, nuclear trafficking almost entered the already hostile situation for American troops in the Middle East.

The EU’s Complicity in Financing the Iranian Regime

Trade between Iran and the European Union (EU) has flourished over the years; this economic and diplomatic partnership is a large art of what has been fueling the Ayatollahs’ support for terrorist groups and undermining regional stability. In recent years, the extent of their trade has reached significant levels, with billions of euros exchanged in goods and services. Behind these seemingly benign economic transactions, however, lies a troubling reality: the funds generated from Europe’s trade with Iran are being funneled into activities that are now prolonging violence and conflict across the Middle East and beyond.

Iran is recruiting British Muslims to spy on Jews and dissidents of the Tehran regime to gather information that may be used to carry out attacks on UK soil

Iran is recruiting British Muslims on pilgrimages in the Middle East to spy on Jews and dissidents in the UK, it was claimed last night.

Recruiters from the feared Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) approach British Shias visiting religious sites in Iran and Iraq.

They are told to return to the UK and gather information on prominent British Jews or targets such as synagogues, Israeli and British officials have separately told the Mail.

The Dangerous Global Order with a Nuclear Armed Iran

As Iran is on the verge of achieving a significant milestone in obtaining nuclear weapons, concerns are mounting over the Biden administration’s lack of a coherent strategy to prevent Iran from going nuclear. Since the Biden administration took office, Iran has been rapidly advancing its uranium enrichment, approaching levels of 83.7% close to the 90% needed for nuclear weapons capability.

Why Don’t We Want a War with Iran?

Every discussion about the current Middle East conflict begins with the mandatory mantra, “We don’t want war with Iran.” Why not? That question is rarely asked.

Iran has declared war on the United States — militarily, legally, diplomatically, morally and politically. They have engaged in repeated casus belli (legal causes for war) since the mullahs took Americans hostage in 1979. Since that time, they have used their surrogates to attack American targets. We are entitled to respond militarily, as we are doing. But we are also entitled to go much further and treat them as aggressors who have effectively declared war on us. We are entitled to destroy their capacity to continue to wage war against us and our allies. The policy question in not whether we have a right to wage war against Iran. It is whether it is in our interest to do so.

Did Iranian Agent Serving as Pentagon Chief of Staff Cause Death of 3 Soldiers?

How were terrorists able to perfectly time their drone attack without inside information?

In September 2023, Pentagon Chief of Staff Ariane Tabatabai, an Iranian immigrant, was accused of having worked as an agent of the Tehran regime. Dissident media outlets produced emails that allegedly showed that Tabatabai had joined an initiative by the Iranian Foreign Ministry to coordinate operations and that she had even run her congressional testimony on Iran’s nuclear program past the head of an Iranian Foreign Ministry think tank.

Canadian Hells Angels members implicated in U.S. case against Iran for assassination attempts on U.S. soil

U.S. prosecutors allege that the government of Iran recruited two Canadian men associated with the Hells Angels to assassinate Iranian defectors in Maryland as part of an international scheme meant to silence dissidents abroad.

A federal indictment unsealed on Monday says that Naji Sharifi Zindashti, an Iranian drug trafficker operating under the orders of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security, recruited Damion Patrick John Ryan, 43, a Canadian full-patch member of the Hells Angels, to carry out a hit on two Iranians in Maryland in December of 2020. Mr. Ryan in turn hired Adam Richard Pearson, 29, a Canadian Hells Angels affiliate then living illegally in Minnesota, to carry out the plot, prosecutors say.

Iran spies sanctioned by UK over plot to kill journalists in London

The UK has sanctioned a network of Iranian spies who plotted to assassinate two Persian-language journalists on the streets of London.

The two news presenters worked for Iran International, a TV channel based in west London that has fallen foul of the regime in Tehran.

A people-smuggler turned informant was offered $200,000 to carry out the killings, an investigation by ITV revealed last year, which found the plot had been orchestrated by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

David Knight Legg: Chrystia Freeland — our soft-on-terror deputy PM

On Jan. 8, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland evaded a question about why Canada hasn’t designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC) as a terrorist organization. The question was being asked on the fourth anniversary of the IRGC’s murder of 55 Canadians aboard Flight PS752, and in the middle of a war the IRGC is facilitating across the Middle East. Before the journalist could ask again, he was arrested, which was caught on film and quickly became an international incident with millions of views.

Trudeau’s brother Alexandre worked for Iran.

The highly anticipated public inquiry into foreign election interference is set to begin Monday, examining how countries like China, Russia and India may have tried to meddle in Canadian democracy.

But some national security experts warn Iran’s growing influence may be missed, despite how far the regime has “spread its tentacles” in Canada.

U.S. Secretly Alerted Iran Ahead of Islamic State Terrorist Attack

WASHINGTON—The U.S. secretly warned Iran that Islamic State was preparing to carry out the terrorist attack early this month that killed more than 80 Iranians in a pair of coordinated suicide bombings, U.S. officials said.

The confidential alert came after the U.S. acquired intelligence that Islamic State’s affiliate in Afghanistan, ISIS-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, was plotting to attack Iran, they said.

American officials said the information passed to Iran was specific enough about the location and sufficiently timely that it might have proved useful to Tehran in thwarting the attack on Jan. 3 or at least mitigating the casualty toll.
