Ceasefire in Lebanon to be announced
A ceasefire in Lebanon will be announced at 10 p.m. by the United States and France, according to Lebanese channel Al Jadeed.
Presidents Biden and Macron will announce the deal during the night, with the alleged agreement set to take effect at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
This comes after several days of strained last-minute negotiation, in which Israel pushed for the removal of France as guarantor of the security situation in Lebanon, citing current diplomatic tensions between France and Israel.

Montreal rabbi says police told him to move away from pro-Palestinian protesters
A local rabbi is speaking out after he says police asked him to leave the site of a pro-Palestinian protest in downtown Montreal, saying his presence was a provocation.
Adam Scheier, the head of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, said Sunday he was asked to move away from an area where protesters were marching downtown, for fear that his presence, as a person wearing a Jewish skullcap or kippah, could provoke violence. Neither Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante nor the Montreal police have commented on the event.

Arresting Netanyahu in UK would be unlawful, warns shadow attorney general and lawyers
Arresting Benjamin Netanyahu would be unlawful, the shadow attorney general and two of Britain’s leading lawyers have warned.
Lord Wolfson KC, the shadow attorney general, has written to his Government counterpart, Lord Hermer KC, saying the UK would be in breach of international law if the Government sought to enact the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant for the Israeli leader if he came to the UK.
His view that UK laws give the Israeli prime minister immunity from being arrested was backed by Prof Richard Ekins, a professor of law and constitutional government at Oxford University, and Lord Verdirame KC, a specialist in public international law.

Saying Canadian Union of Postal Workers supports Hamas was not libel, Ontario court rules
An Ontario court has sided with media commentators who suggested the Canadian Union of Postal Workers was a terrorist sympathizer for participating in a protest a decade ago in Ottawa that featured a Hamas flag.
“Their belief that CUPW supports Hamas, a terrorist organisation, is, in my view, honestly held based on proven facts. It does not have to be a reasonable belief. But it must be an honest one,” concluded Justice Graeme Mew of the Superior Court of Ontario.
Winning hearts and minds to support that strike may be harder than it looks.
UK: Police accused of ‘turning blind eye’ to anti-Semitism to pursue ‘nonsense’
Police chiefs have “turned a blind eye” or even “looked for reasons” not to pursue charges against anti-Semites and instead spent their time investigating “nonsense”, a charity boss has said.
Gideon Falter, chief executive of the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism (CAAS), said that in the past year his charity had launched half a dozen private prosecutions in cases where the police refused to act.
He said since October 7 2023 – when Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and massacred over 1,200 people – there has been an explosion in anti-Jewish hatred, but police were routinely declining to pass cases on to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Fire Trudeau for backing arrest of Netanyahu, says Canada opposition leader
The head of Canada’s opposition has called for Justin Trudeau to be fired for saying his government would abide by an international arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister.
Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, which will take on Mr Trudeau’s Liberals in next year’s election, criticised Canadian premier for his “extreme” views.
“He’s interested in arresting the leader of a democratically-elected government, the state of Israel, which has been besieged by terrorists and foreign tyrants attacking its land,” Mr Poiliever said in a radio interview in Canada.

Around 2,500 years ago, Aesop (c. 620-564 BC) wrote short fables that pithily revealed deep truths. They used to be part of the Western canon but are no longer. And that’s a shame because if more Westerners had been raised on Aesop and knew the story of the Farmer and the Viper, they would not have welcomed in bazillions of Muslims from countries practicing the strictest versions of that faith, they would not have encouraged leftism, and they definitely would not be surprised by the violent anti-Israel rioting in Montreal.
