Looking to rely on themselves, women are taking up hunting in record numbers in B.C.

On a rainbow-coloured picnic table at what is usually a youth summer camp, a beaver carcass lies splayed across a garbage bag, a circle of blue-gloved women looking on.

As Christy Arsenault begins carefully cutting through a layer of muscle just below the beaver’s sternum and across its belly, to reveal its organs, game care instructor Nina Armitage provides guidance and tells the group that these skills can be applied to most other game, such as deer.

“You’ll see that the organs are attached to the spine,” Ms. Armitage tells the group. “If you were field dressing, you would hold your animal on a hill, belly side facing down. If you gently slide [your knife] against the spine, everything will naturally fall out.”

Guns Must Not Be Used For Self-Defense, Canada’s Trudeau Insists

Guns are for hunting and target practice, but never for self defense, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said this week, continuing his crusade against firearms.

Trudeau, who is pushing a sweeping measure aimed at freezing the sale, purchase, or transfer of handguns in Canada, told the Pod Save America podcast his country takes a completely different view of firearms than its southern neighbor. No one in Canada has a right to defend themselves, their family or their property with a firearm, Trudeau declared.

Poll: Americans Know Guns Are Not The Problem, Our Culture Is

A new USA Today/Ipsos poll administered to 1,117 respondents this past weekend reported that half of Republicans “support stricter gun laws.”

Those numbers seem to indicate that a large chunk of Republicans strongly support Democrats’ anti-gun agenda and could be used as political leverage to convince wavering Republicans in Congress to rethink their historical backing of Second Amendment rights. And that’s exactly what USA Today not-so-subtly tried to do in its recent article “Half of Republicans support stricter gun laws, a double-digit jump in a year.”

“The increase in GOP support — from 35% last year to 50% — could boost the prospects for Congress to tighten federal gun laws, an effort that has failed for decades,” the article argued.

Local gun club members feel targeted by new gun bill

Members of a gun club in Toronto fear the impacts of a new federal gun bill.

“We’re obviously nervous,” said Graham Brown, president of the Toronto Revolver Club, which has more than 200 members.

“The biggest effect will be that it stops the transfer of handguns between legitimate sporting participants. And that’s a big worry for us.”

Handgun sales are ‘insane’ after Ottawa unveiled plan to ban them, store owners say

OTTAWA –A week after the federal government proposed to freeze handgun sales and bring in tougher measures to curb illegal gun violence, gun vendors say handguns are flying off the shelves.

“It’s insane,” said an employee at a York Region firearms store.

Sales are “going crazy,” said Sylvia Shi, manager of Solely Outdoors in Markham.

“It’s very busy. We sold over a couple of hundred handguns in three days,” she said, adding business has “more than tripled” the usual pace, before politely saying she had no more time to speak.

For the love of God, stop fantasizing about a war between US citizens and their military

In 2018, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) casually asserted the United States military could easily crush those who refuse to surrender their rifles to the state.

Not long after, President Joe Biden said nearly the same thing when he scoffed at the idea of an armed citizenry serving as a check on the might of the federal government.

This sentiment that the U.S. military could easily overwhelm a non-compliant public, particularly gun owners, lives on as a point of serious discussion in certain political circles.

Disarming Victims Is a Dumb Way to Fight Crime

If a Martian landed on Earth and wanted to quickly determine how dangerous an area was, all he would need is a quick review of local gun laws: the stricter the gun laws, the more gun violence there will be. It is almost as absolute as the law of gravity.

How, then, can it be “common sense” to adopt the policies that have made Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and Detroit human target galleries? Democrats argue you have blood on your hands unless you join them in making all of America into the violence-free paradise that is Chicago. It is absurd nonsense.

New gun legislation ‘doesn’t target law-abiding gun owners,’ says lying safety minister

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino isn’t ruling out the possibility of a national ban on handguns in Canada, saying the federal government is leaving “all options on the table.”

In an interview on CTV’s Question Period, Mendicino said Ottawa’s newly introduced gun-control bill is a “step in the right direction” to mitigate gun violence across the country but it won’t eliminate the problem all together.

“Bill C-21, while it is a significant stride and the most ambitious in a generation, by itself, will not eradicate gun violence. We have to invest in our police, we have to make sure that we are protecting our borders, we have to introduce smart gun policy and we also have to make sure that we are addressing gun crime at its root cause,” he said.

Online pro-gun extremism: ‘Cool for active shooter stuff’

The young man in the jeans and sunglasses proudly shows off his gun in the YouTube video, then instructs his 1 million subscribers how to fit an extra clip in his gun belt, and offers a chilling observation.

“Pretty cool for active shooter stuff, if you need extra mags.”

It’s a typical video, one of thousands teaching military-style training and tactics to civilian gun owners, offering instructions on silencers and grenade launchers, on shooting from vehicles or into buildings. Other websites sell ghost gun kits, gas masks and body armor.

Smear-porn.

When it comes to stopping gun violence, it’s all about the border, critics say

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino spent much of the past week on the road, promoting his government’s new gun control bill to Canadians just as Canadians witnessed another wave of mass shootings south of the border.

But for all the attention being paid to proposed measures that would freeze handgun ownership in this country, ban the sale of long-gun magazines that hold more than five rounds and implement a mandatory buyback of assault-style weapons, there’s growing concern that the Canada-U.S. border is no barrier to gangs smuggling guns into this country.

It’s a bad law made by stupid people who should never have been elected. If you voted Liberal or NDP go fuck yourself.

Canada’s Crackdown on Guns Sounds a Warning for Us

“In Canada, gun ownership is a privilege, not a right,” said Bill Blair, Canada’s minister of emergency preparedness, before referring to the U.S.:

“This is a principle that differentiates ourselves from many other countries in the world, notably our colleagues and friends to the south. In Canada, guns are only intended to be used for hunting and sport purposes.”

This may be true as a matter of positive law. Canada has gone much further in banning guns than has the United States. Gun confiscation isn’t far off. It’s the logical conclusion of the idea that all deaths attributable to guns are preventable, and any law or right preventing it is illegitimate.

But the notion that firearm ownership is a “privilege and not a right” for Canadians, as opposed to Americans, is incorrect. It is a right, just not one protected by the Canadian government. That’s an important distinction.
