A study from the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) released Monday shows the FBI undercounts the number of times an armed citizen stops an active shooting.
The CPRC pointed to the example of 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken shooting and killing the Greenwood Park Mall attacker in Indiana on July 17, 2022.

Federal Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino is calling Alberta Justice Minister and Solicitor General Tyler Shandro’s plan to direct RCMP in the province not to enforce confiscations of prohibited firearms “reckless,” and is amounting it to “a political stunt” that won’t hold up.
On Sept. 26, Shandro made headlines when he announced he had advised the head of the RCMP in Alberta not to take officers off the streets for this purpose, citing a dispute clause in the Provincial Police Service Agreement— saying the “confiscation program” was not a priority.
OTTAWA — Two more provinces are telling Ottawa they don’t want provincial police resources to be used for a proposed gun buyback program set to collect assault style firearms this fall.
The latest political fight between the federal government and Alberta shows just how poorly thought out the gun ban and “buyback” program really is. The Trudeau Liberals are now asking provinces and cities to offer up police resources to take guns from licenced gun owners and they are getting some pushback.
The Saskatchewan government has told the RCMP that it will not financially aid Ottawa in its efforts within the province to implement a federal firearms buyback program.
Christine Tell, the province’s minister of corrections, policing, and public safety, wrote a letter to RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore saying that no government money committed to the RCMP would be used to seize and buy back the firearms of Saskatchewan residents, according to the province’s Chief Firearms Officer Robert Freberg.

OTTAWA – Federal agencies are trying to boost efforts to trace the origins of guns used in crimes, but it appears jurisdictional hurdles could prevent the measures from going as far as some would like.
The federal government says the RCMP has introduced a new mandatory tracing policy, meaning that in places where the Mounties are the police of jurisdiction, seized illegal guns will automatically be sent to the force’s national firearms tracing centre.

However, I’ll admit that I fit the model of “gun guy” these folks have built up in their heads. I can’t help it, it’s just who I am.
