President Joe Biden’s push to change the rules regarding “ghost guns” and put serial numbers on gun parts may be hitting a major roadblock. Relying on the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision in June, a West Virginia federal district court judge ruled on Thursday that it is unconstitutional to ban guns without serial numbers. That is hardly the end of the story, however, as federal judges in Texas and North Dakota seem to have no problem with requiring serial numbers.

The West Virginia judge, U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin, isn’t some wild-eyed Trump nominee. He was nominated by Democrat President Bill Clinton.

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania’s Pittston Area School District revealed it had placed one shotgun and one AR-15 in each of its schools for use by a resource officer in the event of an attack.

The Times Leader reported that news of the acquisition and placement of the firearms “was released during Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting.”

Many Canadians have doubts that a federal freeze on handguns would be effective in deterring firearms-related crimes, an in-house Privy Council study has found.

“Most were unsure as to the practicalities and realities of such a policy,” said the study titled “Continuous Qualitative Data Collection of Canadians’ Views,” which also said that “a large number expressed concerns about a potential freeze.”

OTTAWA – MPs are coming under pressure to broaden an exemption to a planned federal handgun freeze to include a wider range of sport shooters — an idea prominent firearm-control advocates firmly oppose.

In May, the Liberal government announced a plan to implement a freeze on importing, buying, selling or otherwise transferring handguns, in order to help quell firearm-related violence.

On the heels of the fatal shooting of two police officers in Innisfil, Ont., the president of the Toronto Police Association (TPA) says firearms trafficking and violence are increasing and Ottawa’s efforts to curb gun violence are missing the mark.

“The proliferation of firearms up here in Canada from the U.S.—it is out of control in my opinion,” Jon Reid told The Epoch Times.

The Yukon Legislative Assembly has adopted a motion to say that local RCMP resources shouldn’t be used for the federal government’s gun buyback program. The governments of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba have taken similar positions in recent weeks.

The motion was brought forward by Yukon Party Justice Critic Brad Cathers and passed with the support of the Yukon Party and the Yukon NDP MLAs. All Yukon Liberal MLAs, who formed a minority government in the territory after the 2021 election, voted against the motion.

Unsurprisingly, this technology has been a boon to the Second Amendment. Now, people can produce their own firearms whenever they want and trust they’ll have the means to remain armed no matter what.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has never been a fan of guns, but he didn’t really do much about them until he got caught up in his brownface scandal. Then he vowed to push gun control and the media gave him a pass.

And he’s at least done what he said he’d do.

Red flag laws are the top priority of Democrats and gun control advocates. Polls show that Americans overwhelmingly support these measures—by margins ranging between 2-1 and 3-1. Congress recently passed legislation providing funding for states that adopted these laws.

But the polling doesn’t really gauge whether Americans understand how these laws operate. The surveys generally just ask people if they support laws that “allow guns to be temporarily confiscated by a judge from people considered by a judge to be a danger to themselves or others.”

LYONS, N.Y. — Robert Milby, Wayne County’s new sheriff, has been in law enforcement most of his adult life, earning praise and promotions for conscientious service. But recently, Sheriff Milby has attracted attention for a different approach to the law: ignoring it.

Sheriff Milby is among at least a half-dozen sheriffs in upstate New York who have said they have no intention of aggressively enforcing gun regulations that state lawmakers passed last summer, forbidding concealed weapons in so-called sensitive areas — a long list of public spaces including, but not limited to, government buildings and religious centers, health facilities and homeless shelters, schools and subways, stadiums and state parks, and, of course, Times Square.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) points to FBI background check figures to show that over one million guns have been sold in America every month for the past 38 months.

FBI figures show there were 2,470,462 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) checks performed in the month of September. Mark Olivia, the NSSF’s managing director of public affairs, indicates that 1.2 million of the NICS checks were specifically for gun sales.

The Liberal government’s plan to tighten firearms legislation by putting a freeze on handguns is backed by limited data on the potential impact this measure will have on reducing crime, the Commons public safety committee heard on Oct. 4.

“I can’t tell you exactly what impact it will have,” Assistant Deputy Minister of Public Safety Talal Dakalbab told the committee.
