Eco-activist group Greenpeace brought solar power to Dharnai, India, in 2014, constructing a green micro-grid it said would make the tiny village “energy independent” and a model for the rest of the country to follow.
Eight years later, reports indicate the solar micro-grid is not only defunct, but being used as a cattle shed. The Dharnai venture is only one of many failed attempts by environmental groups, like Greenpeace, to “green” the developing world, according to one of its co-founders.

A new United Nations report reveals the disturbing news that the number of global disasters has quintupled since 1970 and will increase by another 40 per cent in coming decades. It finds that more people are affected by disasters than ever before, which has prompted the UN Deputy Secretary General to warn that humanity is “on a spiral of self-destruction.”
Astonishingly, the UN is misusing data, and its approach has been repeatedly shown to be wrong. Its finding makes for great headlines but just isn’t grounded in evidence.
Democrats are increasingly looking to force their climate agenda through the federal bureaucracy rather than go through Congress, experts said, due to lack of support for their environmental reforms.
The longer the war in Ukraine carries on, the worse the consequences will be for the climate, the US presidential envoy John Kerry has warned.
Many countries are struggling with an energy crisis while also urgently needing to cut greenhouse gas emissions to limit global heating to 1.5C, he said.
“If it’s a long period of time, obviously that makes [staying within 1.5C] very complicated,” Kerry said. “It depends on what happens with the war, where the war goes and how long it lasts. If miraculously we can somehow find a way to resolve some of the fundamental problems in the next six months, then maybe we could just accelerate everything together. I think we can make up some distance [in progress on tackling the climate crisis].”
The public policy landscape is littered with the wreckage of ideas that didn’t work out the way their architects intended. It might convince lesser mortals than our politicians and their claque that good intentions are not sufficient. But at least they meant well. Which you can’t say about unaffordable gasoline.

ARE weather disasters becoming more common? You’d have thought so, because we keep on being told so. A few months ago, the BBC informed us:

As global temperatures have risen in recent decades, there has been a significant uptick in the number of disasters related to weather and water extremes.’
… The institute’s report — called The Big Switch, Powering Canada’s Net Zero Future — relies on multiple studies that show demand will be double or triple what it is today by 2050. As much as 75 per cent of that additional power will need to come from wind and solar, if Canada is to meet its climate goals.
These are not serious people. Not once is nuclear mentioned.
The belief that climate change is an “existential challenge,” as evidenced by its appearance in Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s recent budget speech, informs the federal government’s decision to impose tens of billions of dollars in annual costs on Canadians in the form of taxation, spending and regulation.
Call it the double whammy of environmentalism. Or maybe climate alarmism on steroids.
Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and the Liberal government have decided to get behind a private member’s bill being flogged by former Green Party Leader Elizabeth May that would require the federal government to “assess, prevent and address environmental racism and to advance environmental justice.”
A group of six far-left Senate Democrats introduced a resolution Monday urging the federal government to quickly adopt green energy policies for national security reasons.
The U.S. must transition to green energy “as quickly as possible,” bring an end to alleged price gouging from oil companies and provide assistance to consumers battling high energy prices, according to the Democratic non-binding resolution first reported by The Washington Post.
“One of the problems with this industry as a whole is that, since at its very foundation it is based on government subsidies and government mandates, its market value is never truly known,” Daniel Turner, the executive director of Power the Future, told the DCNF in an interview.
“It’s a big lie when the environmentalists say, ‘it’s cheap’ — we don’t know what it actually costs,” Turner continued. “It may be, I’m not denying it could be, but the fact is we don’t actually know what wind and solar cost.”
