These aren’t your ordinary anti-capitalist climate crusaders.

Extinction Rebellion, the radical environmentalists who tried to blockade traffic to the Burning Man counterculture festival Sunday — only to be rammed aside by tribal police — are funded by some of the biggest names in Hollywood, along with an heir to the Getty fortune and outdoor retailer Patagonia.

London, a global pioneer in pricing schemes aimed at reducing traffic and automobile emissions, is taking another big leap forward today with a dramatic expansion of its pollution-charge zone.

But the latest change has ignited surprisingly fierce resistance, evoking not just protests but also mass acts of vandalism and the type of intense rhetoric associated with populist campaigns against COVID-19 restrictions.

London police say they are braced for a new round of physical attacks on the monitoring cameras and other infrastructure needed to enforce the new scheme.

This is footage of "Blade Runners" taking down the cameras in London the government put up to tax cars and limit freedom of movement.

Sweetwater is a unique place with a special history, dating back to the days before the American settlers; the name of this small town in central Texas is itself, derived from a word of the Kiowa Indians. The Kiowa were a nomadic tribe that often hunted through “Mobeetie” or in English, “sweet water” but eventually, the tribe was brought to heel by a federal military under the command of Ulysses S. Grant, during the conflict known as the Red River War — Grant didn’t get the moniker Mr. Lincoln’s Butcher for nothing!

Cattle, sheep and even pets are now in the sights of deranged eco-warriors.

One of the more disappointing developments in British politics over the past two decades – apart from the strange desire of most parties to pander to the tiny transvestite vote, never seen as vital in the past – has been the decline of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, after the death of its founder, Screaming Lord Sutch, in 1999. Still, with the Greens behaving in an increasingly unhinged manner, maybe they might merge? Green is such a lovely colour – not a bit descriptive of a party which seems, like the nature it worships, increasingly red in tooth and claw. The late lord’s party’s handle seems far more appropriate.

On Tuesday evening, PBS NewsHour promoted environmental alarmism by giving climate scientist Michael Mann a forum to plug his new book and call for an unrealistic cutback in the use of fossil fuels.

Host Amna Nawaz set up the segment by recalling recent heat waves in the continental U.S. and the deadly wildfires in Hawaii.

Last weekend I hoped to give my daughter one of the formative experiences of any British childhood: her first Capri Sun. The orange squash, packed in a space-age foil pouch, has been a feature of lunch boxes for more than 50 years. As she looked on expectantly, I took the straw from the side of the packet and went to pierce the hole with the sharp end.
