“Criminalizing Dissent”

A new report reveals how the EU is spending more on censoring speech than curing cancer—using taxpayer money to crush dissent.

Ever since the withdrawal of USAID, people have started looking at how the EU spends their money—and each week seems to bring new shocking revelations of the absurd waste, corruption, and socio-political engineering that Brussels has been financing.

Now, a new report from the conservative think tank MCC Brussels, released today, sheds light on yet another troubling trend—taxpayer-funded “research” on so-called “hate speech” and “disinformation,” described by the author as a key part of the EU’s efforts to control the narrative of public discourse and crack down on dissenting voices.

President Donald Trump’s administration is set to pay nearly $5 million to the family of Ashli Babbitt to settle a lawsuit brought by the estate of the Trump supporter who was fatally shot by police when she tried to storm the House Speaker’s Lobby during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Babbitt’s family filed the wrongful death lawsuit in early 2024, seeking $30 million. Lawyers for both sides told a judge this month that they had reached a settlement in principle, reversing the Justice Department’s earlier opposition in the case, which had been set for trial in July 2026.

The Department of Justice has agreed to pay a hefty settlement to the family of Ashli Babbitt because of her wrongful death at the hands of a Capitol policeman.

Ashli Babbitt was a veteran who marched to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with no intention of being violent or participating in a riot. In fact, evidence shows she tried to stop the violence committed by a small number in the J6 crowd at the Capitol. She became one of four protestors who died that day, and like Rosanne Boyland, Babbitt’s death was the result of police brutality.

Pro-life activist Livia Tossici-Bolt was convicted earlier this month for standing outside an abortion clinic with a sign reading: ‘Here to talk, if you want.’ She was fined £20,000 for twice breaching the clinic’s ‘buffer zone’.

Freedom Convoy Organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber have been found guilty of mischief as “protest leaders” and “social influencers.”

“The Crown has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Lich and Barber have committed mischief,” said the Court of Ontario judge overseeing the mischief trial.

When the police knocked on Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson’s door last year, it prompted a justified national outcry. She was told by two officers on Remembrance Sunday that she was being investigated for ‘stirring up racial hatred’ – all because of a nearly year-old tweet, in which she mistook some British Pakistani protesters for pro-Hamas protesters and railed against ‘Jew haters’. That Pearson promptly deleted it soon after apparently made no difference.
