OTTAWA — When it comes to the federal government’s plan to recruit upwards of 100,000 more people into the trades, there stands one demographic likely to benefit the most.
Men, and more specifically, young men.
Those inside Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government say the pledge, announced last week as part of the spring economic update, reflects commitments he has made around building more homes and getting major infrastructure projects off the ground. It’s also coupled with the need to fill persistent labour gaps in key trades at the same time as the government cuts back on immigration and battles high youth unemployment.

Instead, in Annette Ryan, he has installed a 30-year public service veteran with Finance Department experience who has probably seen it all when it comes to juggling the numbers and concealing errors.
Mark Carney has named Louise Arbour as Canada’s 31st Governor General. She is 79 years old, a former Supreme Court justice, a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and a former chief prosecutor of international war crimes tribunals. She is bilingual, a Montrealer, credentialed beyond argument, and the most ideologically loaded appointment to Rideau Hall in living memory.
Arbour’s appointment is meant to be an insult.
Her toxic luxury beliefs and distaste for white people made her an ideal choice as the Royal Parasite in residence.
Will we see a repeat performance of the Antisemitism Tsar’s tenure, a woman whose bubble was burst when she found out no one was buying the con her class has long propagated to keep the rest of us in line? That no one was going to rally to the defense of a government that has busied itself importing our death cult replacements and continues to abuse immigration policy for political and personal gain?
Arbour peddles the same globalist tripe on immigration, multiculturalism and diversity.

In what amounts to little more than a slush fund merry-go-round, Ottawa is giving your cash to non-governmental organizations, just to have those very same organizations turn around and lobby the federal government.
Federal officials quietly tested public appetite for cutting funding to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and other Crown corporations, with internal focus group research showing Canadians are open to reductions as Ottawa looks for ways to rein in spending.
Blacklock’s Reporter says the research, commissioned by the Privy Council Office and conducted by The Strategic Counsel under a $1.6 million contract, found participants frequently pointed to Crown corporations like the CBC and Canada Post as areas where the federal government could scale back expenditures.

If Alberta could vote in U.S. elections, President Donald Trump would have won in a landslide there all three times he ran for the White House. Alberta is one of Canada’s 10 provinces and the closest thing the country has to a red state.
For a position that is supposed to be non-partisan and represent all Canadians, Louise Arbour was exactly the wrong pick to become Canada’s next Governor General. That’s not on Madame Arbour, who I hope serves with grace and dignity while in the job. Botching the pick is completely on Prime Minister Mark Carney.
When Arbour’s name was first floated in the media, I doubted the reports, thinking there was no way that Carney and his team would be so foolish as to make such a political, partisan pick.

OTTAWA — Achieving Canada’s long-term goal for defence spending would add $63 billion to the federal budget deficit by 2035 — almost double this year’s projected shortfall, Parliament’s budget watchdog says, suggesting the military rearmament drive will add pressure to the government’s currently “sustainable” fiscal blueprint.
The estimate was included in a series of reports published Monday by Parliamentary Budget Officer Annette Ryan that highlight a lack of detail on major initiatives following the Liberal government’s spring economic update last week. While the PBO concluded that current and growing debt levels are sustainable in the long term, the government hasn’t yet included all of the promised cash for defence in its spending projections, according to one of Monday’s reports.
Ottawa is for the first time to track which foreign students and other temporary foreign residents have left the country after their permits to remain in Canada expire, Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab told a committee of MPs on Monday.
Economists have been warning for years that Canada has been dramatically undercounting the number of temporary residents living here by presuming that international students and others leave the country after their permits and visas run out.
