The August celebrations of patron saints in many Spanish towns are a period in which, according to president of Abogados Cristianos (‘Christian Lawyers’) Polonia Castellanos, provocations such as town halls promoting gender ideology or the mocking of Christian religious beliefs are becoming more and more frequent. One of the most recent cases happened in Calviá, a town in Mallorca, where, before an audience of families and children, a queer show was performed, in which an individual dressed in lingerie, pretending to be a woman, made all kinds of sexual comments. Christian Lawyers filed a complaint, arguing that the divisive and controversial show was put on with taxpayer money.

McMaster University in Ontario is known as the birthplace of evidence-based medicine—the practice of integrating clinical expertise with the best available research findings and considerations of patient values and preferences. That legacy makes recent remarks on so-called gender medicine by several McMaster researchers especially baffling.

The New York Times devoted nearly 3,000 words Wednesday to a hostile profile of collegiate swimmer-turned-women’s sports activist Riley Gaines, painting her as rude and ruthless in her vengeance tour against transgender males competing in women’s sports.

Reporter Ruth Graham declared off the top in her headline and subhead: “Riley Gaines Finished 5th. Now She Believes Victory Is in Her Grasp; The former college swimmer has used her race against Lia Thomas, a trans athlete, to propel her career as an influential, and unsparing, activist.”

Canada likes to present itself as America’s friendly neighbour to the north, a paragon of kindness and inclusivity. But beneath the flannel shirts and wholesome, outdoorsy image, it has turned into a laboratory for woke extremism. This is the nation where ‘compassion’ means ushering citizens towards state-assisted death, and where the bank accounts of anti-lockdown protesters are frozen to ensure public safety. The latest victim of Canada’s smothering embrace is nurse Amy Hamm.

Bullied by activists, Gordon Guyatt is now arguing against using his own findings to guide policy

Canadian physician Gordon Guyatt coined the term “evidence-based medicine.” According to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, into which he was inducted in 2016, he is one of our country’s “most cited researchers” and “is considered a world authority in the fields of health-related quality of life research, study design, systematic reviews and guideline development.”

These are worrying times for free speech in this country and it is not helped with the persecution of British Columbia nurse Amy Hamm by the province’s College of Nurses and Midwives.

Hamm is the nurse who said sex is binary and also helped pay to put up a sign in Vancouver that declared, “I (heart) J K Rowling.”

It was a frost-bitten day in late January this year. On the Interstate 91 in Vermont, some 15 kilometres from the Canadian border, US border agents pulled over a blue Toyota Prius.

Law enforcement had been tracking the Prius’s two occupants, 21-year-old Teresa ‘Milo’ Youngblut and 26-year-old Felix ‘Ophelia’ Bauckholt for a couple of days. A hotel employee had raised suspicions about the pair after seeing them both wearing black combat clothes and seeing Youngblut carrying a gun. But beyond that, the agents knew little more about them.
