President Donald Trump just visited the United Nations to offer a customary annual presidential address.
Before he arrived, there were reports that UN staffers had joked about shutting down the escalator to chastise Trump for cutting out aid to some UN programs.
Upon arrival, as if on cue, Trump was met by a series of mysterious coincidences.

More than 3,000 kilometres north of the nation’s capital, soldiers, ships and aircraft of Canada’s Armed Forces gathered this week in one of the most remote areas of the country to answer one question: How would they board a foreign vessel that neither wanted to be seen, nor stopped.
What if the crew of that ship was near sensitive military sites in the North?
It may seem far-fetched. But vessels run routinely through the north with their transponders switched off — largely invisible to other ships, and not necessarily seen by Canada’s satellite and surveillance systems.

OPP are also investigating the allegation that a 17-year-old girl was offered an ‘Indian’ boyfriend to help him gain ‘residency’
In a strange story down in Prince Edward County, OPP officers are investigating the case of a Tim Hortons franchise manager allegedly offering a five-figure payment to a teenage girl to be the girlfriend of her adult “brother” to help his goal of attaining “permanent residency” in Canada.
Tim Horton’s is as shitty as it’s franchisees.

It is tempting to imagine Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson enduring a mutually resentful existence in Royal Lodge. Like an aristocratic version of Roald Dahl’s The Twits, perhaps. Or, to be vulgar, one might call them The Twats instead. The less-than-grand old Duke of York has now spent several years beset by stories linking him to disgraced paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, and there seems to be no way back for him in any kind of public role. Yet, at the beginning of the week, he might have thought the tide had turned for a couple of days. For once, it was Fergie who was bearing the brunt of deeply unflattering headlines when it emerged that, after publicly denouncing Epstein as a sex offender in 2011, she had sent him a grovelling email describing him as a ‘steadfast, generous and supreme friend’.

AI does not foresee the future; it extrapolates from the past. A thriving future demands original thought that responds to the needs of the present.
As a longtime book author, lecturer, and journalist, a great part of my time is spent on research. So, the arrival of Artificial Intelligence would seem to be a great boon for my writing.
I mostly use publicly available search and AI. But in thousands and thousands of searches, I have never received a positive right-of-center response first on a search. If looking for a specific product or named person or institution the regular search can usually find it. But finding a Right-oriented article often takes multiple searches going far down the list. Often there is nothing very far Right on the list at all. For AI searches, it is rare to find a serous conservative piece anywhere.
Fear spawns visions of Skynet or a Big Brother like surveillance society created “for our safety”.
In the short term at least we proles may be the most dangerous variable.

When Prime Minister Mark Carney announced recognition of Palestinian statehood — despite its fractured, corrupt leadership, lack of defined territory, and complicity in terror — he did so with technocratic calm. It was an act that exemplifies Hannah Arendt’s description of the banality of evil: policies couched in the ordinary language of progress and diplomacy, but amounting to profound moral abdication.

It was with a sigh of relief that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkian welcomed the new academic year and the start of autumn the other day — relief that what is dubbed “the thirstiest summer” in Iran’s long history was over.
Only two months ago, he had warned that even Tehran, the capital city, may run out of water within weeks. The disaster he had predicted was avoided, but the factors that could have shaped it remain present.
Iran today is running short of water.

This year marks the eighth anniversary of Canada’s celebration of “gender equality week.” The observance, on the fourth week of each September, was born with the passage of the 2018 Gender Equality Week Act, created in part to “increase awareness of the significant and substantive contributions that Canadian women have made and continue to make to the growth, development, character and identity of Canada.”
The deranged madman who killed at least two people and wounded nine others at a Michigan Latter-day Saints church, torching the building and opening fire on fleeing congregants and their families, has been identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, The Post can confirm.
Sanford, a US Marine veteran, according to his mom’s Facebook page, rammed his Chevy Silverado truck into the building before unleashing the assault on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, armed with a semi-automatic rifle.

Justin Trudeau may be gone, but the economic consequences of his fiscal approach, chronic deficits, rising debt costs and stagnating growth, are still weighing heavily on Canada.
Before becoming prime minister, Justin Trudeau famously said, “The budget will balance itself.” He argued that if expenditures stayed the same, economic growth would drive higher tax revenues and eventually outpace spending. Voila–balance!

Thursday night’s season premiere of Law & Order: SVU portrayed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents as cold-hearted villains who hinder the unit’s efforts to convict a rapist.
On Thursday’s episode, “In the Wind,” a building superintendent named Jorge Ruiz (Juan Francisco Villa) identifies a rape suspect in the apartment complex where he works. His eyewitness testimony is key evidence.
