Approximately 250,000 federal government employees working from home were eligible for tax credits ranging from $400 to $500 each, according to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
“In response to the Covid-19 pandemic the government introduced the temporary flat rate method to simplify the calculation of home office expenses when claiming the employment expenses deduction,” the CRA wrote in a submission to the Commons government operations committee, obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.

The Chicago Office of Inspector General released its final report Wednesday on the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) search warrant policies, concluding that CPD’s inadequate record keeping made it impossible to count or fully analyze wrong-door raids. Cathedral starts silent disco nights to lure in younger worshippers
Ely Cathedral opened its doors to 800 ravers this week as it hosted its first silent disco in a bid to lure in younger worshippers.
The sell-out 1990s themed event at the medieval site was organised by Silent Discos in Incredible Places, and is part of a raft of measures to welcome a younger crowd and to boost the cathedrals finances.
“This is not my cathedral. It’s the cathedral for the people who live here,” the Very Rev Mark Bonney, the 35th Dean of Ely, told The Sunday Times.
