Free office space and tax breaks: These are some of the concessions Toronto has made to FIFA as part of World Cup

Documents obtained by CTV News Toronto are shedding light on the extent of the city’s obligations to FIFA in hosting games for the 2026 World Cup, including tax breaks and a requirement that public transportation fares be free for ticket holders.

The 242 pages of documents were obtained through a Freedom of Information request and contain the host agreement signed by the city in 2018, as well as a 2022 addendum, though many of the pages are redacted.

They lay out the terms under which the city is responsible for bearing many of the costs of the games, including providing FIFA with office space and equipment “of the highest quality”; city beautification; free public transport for pass holders, ticket holders and media during the games; setting up ticket facilities and covering any municipal taxes FIFA might incur.

Church leaders have defended the appointment of “racial justice enablers” tasked with addressing “white fragility” after being accused of potentially alienating ordinary worshippers with the plans.

A number of Church of England dioceses have appointed individuals or teams to address racial inequality in their regions. In Birmingham, an anti-racism practice officer has been tasked with “deconstructing whiteness” in the West Midlands.

Don Lemon wanted free ride aboard Elon Musk’s rocket to host ‘first podcast in space’: sources

Don Lemon — who submitted a wish list that included demands for a free Cybertruck in contract talks with X before he was unceremoniously dumped last week — also wanted SpaceX boss Elon Musk to launch him into orbit for the first-ever extraterrestrial podcast, The Post has learned.

“First podcast in space to be hosted by Don (via SpaceX),” the bulleted line item reads.

The literally out-of-this-world ask was on a document Lemon’s agents at United Talent Agency sent to Musk’s social media site that also included demands for a $5 million advance on top of an $8 million base salary, equity in the company, and veto power over the site’s news content policies and its roster of creators, as The Post reported exclusively last week.

The country’s leadership also announced its turn to Russia. The move followed a disastrous visit by American officials, who arrived to lecture the hard men who led last summer’s coup about the need to restore democracy, and to stop talking to Iran about providing it uranium.

Shocka! An Ontario gun trafficker released on bail 3 times is nowhere to be found

A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the capture of a convicted firearms trafficker after he was released on bail for a third time and skipped his sentencing, Toronto police say.

Kamar Cunningham of Toronto was arrested as part of Project Patton in June 2018 for his involvement in an organization that trafficked guns over the U.S. border, Toronto police said.
