Betting on the outcome of elections isn’t allowed in Canada — but that’s not stopping prediction market websites like Polymarket and Kalshi from taking hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of wagers on who will win Ontario’s municipal races this October.
On Polymarket, for example, close to $400,000 has been spent so far on bets about who will be the next Toronto mayor, while about $43,000 has been spent on Kalshi.
If any of those private college students who have had their OSAP cut off are looking for a way to get funding, perhaps emigrate to beautiful Guyana, which is still getting its Canadian taxpayer assistance. In fact, on the Global Affairs website, it highlights “$39.2 million in further funding for four new international assistance projects aimed at advancing climate action, biodiversity conservation, food security, economic resilience, sustainable and inclusive governance, health, and gender equality.”

An African priest and theologian who teaches in Germany has defended the widespread practice of polygamy in Africa while criticizing “the imported Western family model.”
Father Égide Muziazia, who teaches theology at the University of Münster, Germany, wrote an essay in the theological magazine feinschwarz defending polygamy in Africa.
