Carney, Zelenskyy sign ‘100 year’ cooperation declaration on defence, energy

CALGARY— On Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the signing of a “100 Year Partnership Declaration” that will see enhanced cooperation between the two countries in defence and energy.

Carney welcomed Zelenskyy to Alberta on Thursday morning at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary, where the two leaders gave opening remarks about the visit.

‘Everywoman’ is apparently named Tanishawanda

A sculpture inspired by a desire to bring a contemporary “everywoman” to Trafalgar Square has been unveiled on London’s Fourth Plinth.

Lady In Blue by New York artist Tschabalala Self, which pays homage to a young, metropolitan woman, is the 16th artwork to feature on the plinth since 1998.

The bronze and blue figure replaces Mil Veces un Instante (A Thousand Times in an Instant) by Teresa Margolles.

Art is mostly race baiting bunk nowadays. h/t Patti Jo

B.C. Premier David Eby unveiled new welcome signs for U.S. border crossings at a Tuesday press conference, which he says reflect a message from his government: “Welcome to British Columbia, Canada. Strong, proud, and will NEVER be the 51st state. Sorry!”

He pointed to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, saying that when 8,500 passengers were stranded at Vancouver International Airport, Canadians opened their doors to their southern neighbours.

There will be kind words for Ukraine and condemnations of Russia when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy travels through Canada over the next two days.

But there is a more consequential reason for his visit, which will include a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet in Banff on Thursday, as well as stops in Calgary, Toronto and North Bay.

Ottawa and Kyiv are in talks toward a formal agreement that would lock in Canada’s military, political, economic and financial support for Ukraine over the long term.

Long term, meaning one hundred years.

As Muslims suddenly found their faith wrongly linked with extremist acts in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, many Islamic institutions in Canada responded to the growing fear and suspicion by trying to build bridges with their communities, opening their doors to neighbours and joining vigils for the nearly 3,000 people killed.

CTV are Carney’s typists so it’s safe to assume this is the party line.
