Yale’s Timothy Snyder has a novel take on Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth: He believes that Hegseth intends to end the republic. On X yesterday, Snyder concluded a 13-part thread about Hegseth by proposing that he “represents a policy of regime change” whose “nomination” is “best understood as part of a decapitation strike against the republic” that will usher in a “Christian Reconstructionist war on Americans.”

As world leaders court President Trump and jockey for invitations at his inauguration, it was probably only a matter of time before one of them decided to go the other way, challenging him as ‘weak.’

The stupid fool was Nicolas Maduro, fraudulently installed dictator of Venezuela who just enthroned himself in the faces of Venezuelans. Over the weekend, Maduro declared he wanted to invade Puerto Rico to “liberate” it, using the troops of his socialist ally, Brazil.

At least 15,000 Canadians died while waiting for surgery or a diagnostic scan over the course of a year, according to government data collected by public policy think tank SecondStreet.org.

The true figure for the fiscal year 2023-24 is likely nearly double owing to a “huge hole” in the data, said SecondStreet president Colin Craig. Missing are data from Quebec, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador and most of Manitoba.

We need more dancing nurses, doctors and EMT’s. And more migrants!

Only 13% of Americans Trust TV Reporters’ Honesty and Ethics

When it comes to honesty and ethics, TV and newspaper reporters rank with the likes of car salespeople, lawyers and advertising professionals, results of a new Gallup survey of U.S. adults reveal – and Americans’ opinion of them may actually be much worse than they say.

In a national survey, conducted December 2-18, 2024, Gallup asked respondents to “rate the honesty and ethical standards” of 23 professions. “TV reporter” was one of just three professions distrusted by a majority of Americans. Only 13%, or about one in eight, rate the trustworthiness of TV reporters as either “high” or “very high,” while more than four times as many (55%) think it’s “low” or “very low” (55%).

Immigration Policy Is Criminal Abuse Of Canadian Citizens By The LPC: Family work permits no longer available for some foreign students and workers starting next week

Starting next week, the federal government will impose further restrictions on access to open work permits for families of international students and temporary foreign workers.

Following an announcement last fall of reductions in the number of temporary residents in Canada, Ottawa released further details Tuesday on changing the eligibility for family members of study and work permit holders to get authorization to work legally in Canada.

Lost federal revenue, property, money jumps to $649.5-million in 2023-24: Public Accounts

A massive spike in reported lost federal revenue, combined with reported losses—accidental and otherwise—of public property and money, made 2023-24 a record year for such losses at close to $649.5-million overall, the highest such total in the last 10 years of federal public accounts.

In 2022-23, losses across these three categories had totalled $534.2-million.
