Prosecutors in South Korea have asked a court to sentence the owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant to one year in prison for serving a dessert topped with ants, an insect not approved for consumption under local food safety law.
The request, made on Monday, also sought a 20m won (£10,108) fine for the company that runs the restaurant, Yonhap news agency reported.

Being Canadian-born isn’t the wealth advantage many assume, according to a new study. Statistics Canada (StatCan) researchers compared Canadian-born households with established immigrants who had lived in the country for at least 10 years. They found the immigrant group came out ahead across every wealth quartile, though the gap narrowed at the top. The difference was driven almost entirely by Canada’s real estate bubble in its largest cities.

The growing arrival and continued penetration of Chinese automakers in European Union markets is a now years-long phenomenon across the regional bloc. It is reportedly estimated Chinese brands represent a majority of the 27 new vehicle brands on sale in Spain and in other European countries, with Chinese vehicles accounting for nearly ten percent of all sales in Europe.
