One thing voters in Toronto need to decide by Oct. 26 is whether they want a mayor focused on the key, basic services we all rely on. The alternative, as personified by Olivia Chow, is a mayor who focuses on renaming, DEI, decolonization and changing the language city staff use to communicate.
Olivia Chow has announced a plan to lower grocery prices through an outright ban on surveillance pricing and property tax breaks for community grocers but her opponent in the mayoral race is accusing her of rehashing old policies.
“Right now, things are hard for community grocery stores and the families they serve. Food has become too expensive. We don’t want to have mums and dads putting something back at the checkout because they can’t afford it,” the mayoral candidate said at a news conference Friday.
Olivia Chow’s record, when looked at objectively, isn’t one to run for re-election on, so she’s running on fear.
At debate after debate, in pronouncement after pronouncement, Chow is trying to scare voters into believing that her opponent, Brad Bradford, is a monster who will destroy the city.
Chow’s Muslim handlers will not be easily pushed away from the public trough.
Toronto city hall has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to a DEI consulting firm with long, personal ties to both Olivia Chow’s most trusted staffer and one of her deputy mayors, the Toronto Sun has learned.
The Brad Bradford campaign said Toronto’s incumbent mayor has a lot to answer for after an advocacy group accused ATU Local 113 of paying for TTC workers it represents to canvass for Olivia Chow.

Mayoral candidate Brad Bradford has removed a Toronto real estate developer as co-host of a Thursday night campaign event over social media posts referencing Islam.
Bradford campaign spokesperson Laryssa Waler confirmed Wednesday that Avi Glina will no longer be one of three hosts for “Rally for change in North York” after the National Council of Canadian Muslims raised concerns.
Glina’s Instagram account includes social commentary strongly supporting U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while raising concerns about Islam’s impact on society.
All perfectly reasonable positions. Islam should never dictate our politics to even the smallest degree unless it’s in regard to remigration.
I will not vote for him, he’s just another careerist hack who will almost certainly lose to Chow.
Nearly two-thirds, 64 per cent, of Torontonians think the mayor and city council are out of touch with what residents want and need, according to a new poll.
The Canada Pulse Insights poll for CityNews also found 56 per cent said they believe the mayor was doing a good job, 64 per cent believed their local councillor was doing a good job and 55 per cent rated city council on a whole as doing a good job.

The answer will obviously be a resounding no for most people. Yet that’s the question Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow effectively put to voters on Monday at a re-election campaign announcement.
Chris Alexander has announced he is dropping out of the race to become the next mayor of Toronto.
The former Conservative cabinet minister made the announcement at a news conference in Toronto on Tuesday morning.
“Our path to success, it became clear to me over this weekend, was not obvious and perhaps not there at all,” he told supporters and members of the media at his campaign headquarters.

Mayoral candidate Olivia Chow is promising to provide lunches in school if re-elected, a move she says will save parents an estimated $1,800 per year.
But at least one of her opponents is slamming the proposal as “an idea without a plan to pay for it.”
“Prices at big grocery stores just keep rising. With a robust school food program, we can give parents some breathing room. We can save families thousands of dollars a year feeding kids in school. And give parents a break on making lunch every day,” Chow said in a written statement.

Shortly after becoming mayor of Toronto in 2010, Rob Ford tried to reduce the amount of the city’s municipal land transfer tax (LTT).
The much-loathed tax placed on the purchase of new homes within city limits had only come into effect a couple years earlier, introduced by then-mayor David Miller. It was a duplicate tax — replicating the Ontario provincial land transfer tax that buyers were already paying.
Taxes have gone up by a cumulative 28% since 2023, yet Torontonians would be hard-pressed to point to equivalent improvements in the services they receive. That figure includes the last tax hike pushed through by former mayor John Tory, but just since Olivia Chow took office, property taxes are up by more than 20%.
At one point in Tuesday night’s Toronto mayoral debate, Brad Bradford, the councillor running to unseat Olivia Chow, was decrying the city’s reluctance to uncover wasteful spending.
City Hall, he said, is “defined by a culture of status quo.”
Well, yes. And that is basically the problem that Bradford must overcome.

Mayoral hopeful Brad Bradford has made up ground on incumbent Olivia Chow in this fall’s Toronto election, according to a new poll.
With just under five weeks to go until the Oct. 26 voting day, the public opinion survey by Liaison Strategies shows that 47 per cent of decided and leaning voters intend to cast a ballot for Chow, compared to 40 per cent who back Bradford. That gives Chow a seven-point lead over Bradford, the councillor for Beaches—East York, down from 11 points two weeks ago.
