The entry of former federal cabinet minister Chris Alexander into the Toronto mayoral race appears to have chipped away at the support for Brad Bradford, a new survey suggests.
The survey of 1,011 Torontonians was conducted by Forum Research on Wednesday, one day after Alexander confirmed that he was entering the race.
The Salsa on St. Clair festival has lost one of its key sponsors weeks after a shooting that left two people dead.
In a July 23 letter, reviewed by CP24, the Hillcrest Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) advised festival organizers Canadian Salsa Festival and TLN Media Group that its board voted to discontinue its sponsorship of the two-day event.
Chair Heather Hannah said in the letter that while they have been “proud” to sponsor and host the event for many years, it believes Salsa on St. Clair has “outgrown both the neighbourhood and the capacity” of the BIA.

Former federal Conservative cabinet minister Chris Alexander has officially entered Toronto’s mayoral race, pitching himself as the “outsider” needed to get a city he says is “slightly adrift” back on track.
Alexander registered his candidacy Wednesday at Toronto City Hall, joining a list of 32 other candidates that also includes incumbent Mayor Olivia Chow and Coun. Brad Bradford.. His entry immediately drew criticism from Bradford who told reporters at Toronto City Hall that he’s “never heard of” Alexander, while Chow declined to engage directly with his criticism of her leadership.
There is a heavy police presence surrounding the U.S. Consulate after at least one shot was fired outside the building early Monday morning.
Although police have not yet confirmed if the consulate was targeted, the incident comes about four months after the building was struck by gunfire in another shooting.
Many GTA school boards are reporting declining enrolment, which has forced some of them to cut teaching and administrative positions and slash programming, even as the overall population in the region continues to rise.
In 2025, Statistics Canada reported that the population of Toronto and its surrounding areas had topped seven million, with nearly 300,000 people moving here within the previous year.
Yet, many school boards CTV New Toronto reached out to report a dip in student numbers over the last few years. In the few instances where there were reported increases, those spikes were modest.
The leader of an online advocacy group who has gained thousands of followers for his gloves-off approach to criticizing progressive policies — and faced accusations of toxifying local politics in the process — says he plans to run for Toronto city council.
Daniel Tate, executive director of IntegrityTO, confirmed to the Star he intends to sign up Wednesday for the race in Toronto Centre, where he would face off against one-term incumbent Chris Moise — the politician whom Tate filed an ethics complaint against last year.
“Controversial” is a smear designed to demonize his views because they are attractive to voters which naturally scares the crap out of progressives.

Brad Bradford is running for mayor of Toronto. The city councillor for Beaches-East York is the main rival of the incumbent, Olivia Chow, who is hoping to win a renewed mandate when voters go to the polls on Oct. 26.
So when he speaks, it is worth listening to what he has to say. Unfortunately, what he had to say about a recent, tragic incident in the city was drivel.

A new ad campaign by the City of Toronto is warning e-bike riders not to use the city’s bike lanes.
My question is, if the e-bike riders delivering food orders for Uber Eats, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes aren’t using the city’s bike lanes, then who will?
A committee led by Mayor Olivia Chow is likely to sign off on a 40-year lease for Toronto’s WNBA team, which would pay $1 a year for a parcel of land the city may value at $10 million – or more.
A report, prepared for Chow’s powerful executive committee by the heads of City Hall’s parks and recreation division and its corporate real estate management arm, recommends the Toronto Tempo be given a city-owned surface parking lot at 701 Fleet St.– located northeast of Strachan Ave. and Lake Shore Blvd. W. – to turn into a practice facility.
So the city is giving a 40 year sweetheart lease to a league that won’t last 5 years (That’s the upside) and tax payers lose 500K a year in parking fees in exchange for 800K in operating expenses.
Chow must go she is a stooge.
What if Canada’s largest city started shrinking, and it wasn’t all that huge an issue, even with a municipal election just months away? This is the odd situation in which Toronto, forever caught between aspiring to and boasting of “world class” status, may now find itself. Hopefully not.

Mayoral candidate Brad Bradford is criticizing a top Toronto police official for categorizing the city as “extremely safe” in remarks that were made mere hours after a deadly shooting at the Salsa on St. Clair festival over the weekend.
Deputy Chief Frank Barredo told reporters on Saturday that Toronto remains “one of the safest cities in the world” despite the brazen shooting that killed two people and injured five others earlier that night.
Ah, Toronto, Canada. A city that’s doing more for the cause of gun rights than probably any other community on the planet, and not because they’ve embraced it and shown the world that law-abiding gun owners aren’t the problem, but the answer. Oh no, because Canada has done the exact opposite, and Toronto has become a horrific place to hang out.
VANCOUVER — At least one victim of Saturday’s mass shooting at Toronto’s Salsa on St. Clair festival has been identified online by members of the public, while Toronto Police Service has yet to release any description of the suspect or suspects more than 36 hours later, despite the gunfire erupting amidst a crown of an estimated 13,000 people.
