Mosque owners breach planning laws as hundreds protest

The Zainabiya Welfare Foundation (ZWF) had been using a building on Bennet Road, in south Reading, as a mosque throughout 2017 before being informed by the local authority that its use was “unauthorised” and that they would fail to obtain planning permission. The Shia group subsequently purchased another building – over five miles away in north west Reading – which, by the group’s own admission, has been used as a mosque since 14th December 2017 despite having no planning permission to do so.

London’s Hackney Council Sends ‘Enforcement Officers’ to Mosques to Ask for ‘Hate Crime’ Reports

A large mosque building in Alvesta has now received the green light approval from the municipality’s building committee. The building will cost a total of 15 million kronor and will accommodate 500 people.

Gulf minister warns Germany to keep better control over its mosques

“You can’t just leave a mosque open and allow anyone to go there and to preach. You need to have licences,” said al Nahjan in an interview with DPA.

He added that the problem existed in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, arguing that Muslims were becoming radicalized in mosques where the authorities were not exerting strong enough control.

Mosque where NYC jihad mass murderer worshipped was part of NYPD surveillance effort dismantled by de Blasio at behest of Islamic groups

As a candidate, de Blasio had said that “we need to do a full review of all surveillance efforts, and anything that is not based on specific leads should not continue.”

Rise in Islamophobic attacks against mosques in Greater Manchester

Islamophobic attacks against mosques in Greater Manchester have risen dramatically post Manchester Arena attack, according to official figures released by Greater Manchester Police. Nine attacks on mosques were reported to police between March and June this year compared with none during the same period in 2016.

Many Muslims living in Greater Manchester have reported to the police and other online organisations a rise in assaults, abuse and attacks on property in the immediate aftermath of the Manchester Arena attack.
