The images from the war Hamas launched against Israel on Oct. 7 have tugged at the heartstrings of Americans. By that, I don’t refer to the charred ruins of Israeli communities in southern Israel that were devastated by the Hamas pogroms. Nor do I refer to the horrifying evidence of that terrorist rampage of murder, rape, torture and kidnapping that is too graphic for most people to bear. As far as the international media is concerned, those victims were quickly forgotten almost as soon as the murder spree happened and then erased from the collective memories of the West. The pictures and videos of the Palestinians of Gaza, however, who have suffered as a result of the war started by the organization that most of them supported have been a staple of the corporate media’s coverage.

Update – Top UN court rejects SA request to halt war against Hamas

The International Court of Justice on Friday rejected a request by South Africa to order a halt to Israel’s defensive war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip while demanding that the Jewish state take “all necessary measures” to prevent acts that could possibly lead to genocide.

The top U.N. court also dismissed Pretoria’s demand that residents of the northern Gaza Strip be allowed to return to the area immediately.

By now, we’ve all heard the horrific reports of children in Gaza undergoing amputations without anaesthetic or being buried alive under rubble.

Such unimaginable suffering has also, no doubt, happened elsewhere during earthquakes or plane crashes in remote parts of the world, beyond human reach or control.

What makes this situation different is that Gaza is neither remote nor beyond human reach or control.

Why do I get the impression this is official LPC policy?

Hamas’s tactics in Gaza demonstrate how new Department of Defense legal rules could endanger American soldiers and harm U.S. national security.

The Biden administration declared in July that the laws of war require presuming persons and structures in combat areas are civilian, overturning longstanding Department of Defense (DOD) rules. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, echoing the administration’s new position, has pressured Israel to limit its self-defense, citing the effect on Gazan civilians and infrastructure. Hamas, of course, regularly disguises its combatants as civilians, and uses civilian structures such as homes, mosques, schools, and hospitals as military facilities.

He also represented a shining example of coexistence and unwavering love for Israel.

Anti-Semitism campaigners say rhetoric in wake of Oct 7 attack is radicalising ‘generation hate’

A third of young people say that Israel is acting like the Nazis, research for an anti-Semitism charity shows.

In polling conducted in December, 34 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds agreed with the statement “Israel treats the Palestinians like the Nazis treated the Jews”. The result among all adults was 30 per cent.

The figure marks a record high in the annual survey. In 2022, 23 per cent of Britons agreed with the statement, along with 31 per cent of young people.

Iran is now a “legitimate target” for Israeli missile strikes, one of the country’s most senior ministers has told the Telegraph, raising the prospect of an all out war with Tehran.

In a wide-ranging interview, Nir Barkat, Israel’s economy minister, also said Palestinians from the West Bank would never be allowed to work in the country again and will be replaced by more than a quarter of a million imported foreign workers.

Almost four months to the day, and not in a good way, the world has turned upside down.

In a risibly threadbare case, the victim of a depraved genocidal attack was accused at the UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague of committing genocide. Lacking evidence of mens rea (criminal intention) that is prerequisite, or indeed any vestige of substantive evidence, South Africa sought to invert the object and purpose of the Genocide Convention of December 1948, which is specific to the “crime of crimes”. The accused is not just any victim, but the Jewish state, whose re-establishment in the May of the same year that the Convention was brought into effect was no coincidence.
