For all the various efforts world leaders are investing in arranging a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, they must understand there will be no genuine prospect of peace so long as Hamas terrorists retain control of Gaza.

Numerous options have been explored in recent weeks, ranging from the Biden administration’s wide-ranging plan to address numerous regional issues, from the threat posed by Iran to reopening negotiations on Palestinian statehood, to the recent attempt by Arab nations, led by Algeria, to pass a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which was vetoed by Washington.

Suspected Hate-Motivated Mischief Investigation, Spadina Avenue and Front Street area, Man arrested

On Monday, February 26, 2024, Matthew Doyle, 41, of Toronto was arrested and charged with:

five counts of Mischief Under (one count is suspected hate-motivated related to the Al Waxman Statue)

He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 301.

This investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

Some hostages are kept by Hamas in Rafah, IDF spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari said in an interview given at the emergency conference on challenges facing Jewish communities held in Jerusalem.

“We are fighting Hamas from the north to the south,” Hagari said. “We will finish in Rafah, it is an important city – there are hostages in Rafah,” he was quoted by Israeli media as saying at the conference.

The Israel Defense Forces says it killed a senior Hezbollah commander in an airstrike that targeted a car driving down the streets of southern Lebanon on Monday.

Video of the strike shows the car carrying Hezbollah’s Hajir chief Hassan Hussein Salami driving through the village of Majadel as an IDF aircraft locks in on the vehicle.

A bomb is quickly dropped on the car, which erupts into flames and crashes into a nearby building before stopping.

Salami, a brigade commander, was reportedly targeted while driving in the village of Majadel.

How grim is that viral image of Aaron Bushnell screaming ‘FREE PALESTINE!’ as he goes up in flames? His tone flits from one of political fervour to excruciating pain as the fire he ignited consumes his body. He ends up hollering the slogan at an infernal pitch as his earthly self succumbs to the blaze. It is at once an image of a disturbed individual and a disturbed political culture. Of both one man’s mania and what we might call Palestine mania – an affliction of Generation Z where they experience extremes of emotion upon mere mention of the words ‘Gaza’ or ‘Israel’. It’s an affliction we need to talk about.

Toronto Star social and racial justice columnist Shree Paradkar raised more than a few eyebrows on Friday with a column attacking former prime minister Stephen Harper for a tweet expressing solidarity with Israel’s wartime government.

She took issue with Harper’s characterization of the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attacks, which violated a then-existing ceasefire between the terrorist group and Israel, as “unprovoked,” calling Harper’s tweet the “latest reminder of the depth of Western bias” on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Paradkar also objected to the ex-prime minister’s use of the phrase “end(ing) the threat of Hamas” in the same tweet.

The international community, through UNRWA, funded a vast portion of Hamas’ operations by freeing it to focus on terrorism rather than health and education.

The discovery of a Hamas server farm beneath the United Nations Relief and Relief Agency (UNRWA) ‘s Gaza headquarters culminates a catastrophic few months for the world’s largest welfare organization.

The Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group knocked out four undersea communications cables linking Saudi Arabia and Djibouti, a report by an Israeli news outlet claimed Monday.

The submarine cables were struck out of commission through sabotage in recent months, claimed Israeli news outlet Globes.

Attacks by the Houthis are widely considered to have damaged the cables believed to belong to the AAE-1, Seacom, Europe India Gateway (EIG), and TGN systems.

Mediators are making progress on an agreement for a weeks-long cease-fire between Israel and Hamas and the release of dozens of hostages held in Gaza as well as Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, Israeli media reported Sunday.

Israel’s War Cabinet met to discuss the proposal late Saturday, but there was no official word on what they had decided. Several Israeli media outlets, citing unnamed officials, said it tacitly approved the deal and that Israel would send a delegation to Qatar for further discussions.
