Israel is likely to have breached international humanitarian law with American weapons during its military campaign in Gaza, a US government report has concluded.

However, the long-awaited US State Department report added that Israel’s forces did not act in a way that would prevent Washington sending further military assistance to its ally.

While it was “reasonable to assess” that Israel had used US-supplied weapons in ways that could be deemed illegal, it also said that officials in Washington could not reach “conclusive findings” that they were used in specific breaches.

A teenage anti-Israel protester who vandalized a World War I memorial in Central Park earlier this week has been arrested — after his father turned him over to the cops, according to the NYPD and police sources.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony, and making graffiti, which is a misdemeanor, for allegedly defacing the 107th Infantry Memorial during an unruly demonstration on Monday night.

The United Nations General Assembly has enhanced Palestine’s rights within the organisation and called for it to be accepted as a member.

Palestine has had non-member observer state status since 2012, which allows some rights short of a full member.

Membership can only be decided upon by the UN Security Council.

The US would veto a bid for full membership in the council, but Friday’s vote can be seen as a gesture of support for the Palestinians.

Ontario’s post-secondary education minister is concerned about encampments at universities and doesn’t want upcoming graduations to be hindered by the ongoing protests.

“I want to ensure that all students and faculty are safe,” Colleges and Universities Minister Jill Dunlop said at Queen’s Park on Thursday.

“We’re approaching graduation season, and I don’t want to see families intimidated and not attending graduation because this situation is happening,” she told reporters.

‘Free to protest but not free to camp’: Police fire tear gas and clear U of C encampment

What would be the worst foreign policy message imaginable? There are many contenders, but the frontrunner has to be simply that “terrorism works”. Once this lesson has been learnt, the door will be open to years of violence against us. It’s called appeasement, and history has taught us where it leads.

If you, like me, are concerned by the rise of Islamist extremism around the world, the danger it poses to Jewish communities everywhere, and the way it threatens both the firmness of liberal values and our national security, the inconstancy of Western support for Israel in its mission to destroy Hamas – including here in Britain – should fill you with dread.

From the first moment students in the US pitched tents on campus and spouted their hostility towards Israel, it was inevitable that their counterparts in the UK would follow suit. As expected, from Aberdeen to Bristol, from Oxford to Cambridge, British students have set up their own ‘Gaza solidarity’ camps and are donning the uniform of the anti-Israel protester – the keffiyeh and Covid mask combo.

I applaud the Star’s sense of fairness. It’s important we see matters through the eyes of the youth.

Because of political correctness, one of the glaring causes of the current campus student riots may not be spoken. We all see it. We all know it. But we must not say it.

I doubt that there is any national or religious group that produces the percentage of people who aid those who wish to hurt, let alone kill, that group as do Jews.

When one observes Jews who defend those whose raison d’etre is the annihilation of the one Jewish country on Earth, you have to ask: Why are there no others like them? Were there blacks who defended slavery? Were there Armenians who defended the Turkish mass murder of fellow Armenians during World War I?

On May 6, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) captured the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, drawing condemnations from the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group and Egypt.

The IDF said it had “intelligence that terrorists were using the border crossing for terror purposes.” A day earlier, Hamas terrorists fired rockets from near the Rafah terminal toward the Kerem Shalom area (near the Israel-Gaza border), killing four Israeli soldiers and wounding several others.
