Sarah Silverman is a stand-up comic who makes much, in her routines, of being Jewish. It’s part of, it’s a major part of, it’s far too much a part of, her shtick; what isn’t about being Jewish is about sex. I find her treatment of both topics distinctly unfunny. She is critical of Israel in an offhand, careless sort of way; she repeats what she’s heard elsewhere, without looking into the matter herself. Lots of people she knows “support BDS” (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) so, in her ditzy way, she does, too. She does not understand the real intent of that sinister movement.
Her heinous crime was to be married to the man who exposed the fathomless depths of leftist hate and hypocrisy.
Remember those halcyon days of yesteryear when American comedians managed to poke fun at politicians on both sides of the aisle and make all Americans laugh together, instead of dividing us by mocking grotesque stereotypes of Americans in flyover country? Remember when late-night television was dominated by Johnny Carson, who managed to make clever quips about current events without descending into vicious snark aimed at half the country?

While the Times has preached against forms of cultural borrowing before, having recently published an article critiquing tiki bars as “racial inequity and cultural appropriation,” it graciously granted the yoga instructor a platform to express her belief that she did nothing wrong.

Oh, and perhaps don’t pretend to be a borderline-racist caricature of a barely literate Latina woman when you’re actually whiter than Wonder Bread.
…COVID-19 has made it clear there is a deep divide between regular people and the celebrity class. Celebs complained about living in their coastal mansions during the pandemic or lectured us with “we’re all in this together” videos while breaking lock down orders. And let’s not forget they tortured us with yet another rendition of the annoying John Lennon song “Imagine,” because they actually believe it somehow makes us feel better to hear Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Fallon sing “Imagine there’s no heaven,” while an overreaching government shutters our business and separates us from loved ones.
