Colombia rejects two US military flights with deported migrants, say officials

Colombian president Gustavo Petro announced on Sunday that he had blocked US military aircraft carrying deported Colombians as part of Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown from landing in his country.

Mexico had also reportedly refused to receive a similar flight on Saturday, according to US officials cited by Reuters and NBC News.

In a post on Twitter/X, Colombia’s leftist leader wrote: “A migrant is not a criminal and must be treated with the dignity that every human being deserves.

“Time to Get Tough” as Figures Show One in 12 in London Is an Illegal Migrant

Reports this week point to new figures showing that “up to” 585,000 illegal migrants live in London, which is equivalent to one in 12 of the UK capital’s population. One migration expert told europeanconservative.com that the true number is likely to be “even higher.”

Migration Watch chairman Alp Mehmet said that the think tank “estimates the overall number of illegal migrants in the UK to be around 1.5-2 million, the bulk (circa 60%) of whom will be in the capital.”

In other words, there could be between 900,000 and 1.2 million illegal migrants in London.

Mexico risks Trump’s wrath as it BLOCKS packed illegal migrant deportation flight from landing

Mexican authorities blocked a US military plane from deporting illegal migrants on Thursday after Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown began.

American officials told NBC News a packed jet never took off after authorities south of the border rejected the move.

The flight was one of three that were set to take off on Thursday, alongside two Guatemala-bound Air Force C-17s carrying over 150 people, as part of what Trump has described as the largest mass deportation effort in US history.

Asylum seekers loitering outside school is ‘cultural’ issue, say police

Police have told migrants to adhere to “cultural expectations” following reports they were loitering outside a primary school.

Northamptonshire Police said it would “deliver some work” around “appropriate behaviours” following complaints of men “hanging around” near the school.

The force pledged to work with a hotel housing asylum seekers and step up patrols after the reports of “suspicious activity” in the village of Deanshanger.

Canada has a “limited capacity” to welcome people looking to resettle, the federal immigration minister said, as the country braces for a potential influx of migrants in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s border crackdown.

As part of a series of executive orders cracking down on immigration, this week Trump suspended America’s refugee resettlement program, leaving stranded thousands in war-torn countries across the globe who were approved to come to the United States.

Immigration Minister Marc Miller said the U.S. decision is “unfortunate” and Canada will continue to be there for people fleeing conflict, but there is a limit to how many it can support.

US border agents have been told to summarily deport migrants without allowing them to request legal protection, according to internal documents obtained by CBS, the BBC’s US partner.

The US has also moved to cancel all refugee travel and processing, leaving thousands stranded as they wait to come to the US.
