Parents of suspected Michigan high school shooter ignored signs he was a threat, prosecutors say

The parents of Ethan Crumbley ignored troubling signs surrounding their 15-year-old son for months before he allegedly opened fire, killing four students and wounding seven others at his Detroit-area high school last month, according to prosecutors.

“[Jennifer and James Crumbley] were in a better position than anyone else in the world to prevent this tragedy, but they failed to do so,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a Thursday filing. “The evidence will further show that these Defendants willfully ignored the needs and well-being of their son and the threat he posed to others.”

What you really sing about in the Twelve Days of Christmas

If the coming week or so becomes a rather interminable and indeterminate blur, then perhaps frequent recourse to singing The Twelve Days of Christmas may serve as a reminder of what day it is and when to take the decorations down. It might even bring some spiritual instruction along the way.

This popular and much-parodied song first appeared in 1780, in a children’s book entitled Mirth Without Mischief. It seems originally to have come from France, where earlier versions exist, and it is perhaps significant that the partridge, which appears as the final gift sent by the true love, was introduced into England from there in the 1770s. Although on the face of it a simple memory game for children, scholars have suggested that it may have contained hidden messages, rather like other nursery rhymes — Sing a song of sixpence referring to Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, and Ring-a-ring o’ roses to the Great Plague of London in 1665, for example.

Trump threatens to divulge ‘the real facts’ about ‘wacko’ Bette Midler

Former President Donald Trump vowed to spill the beans on actress-singer Bette Midler over her attack on the people of West Virginia.

In a statement Thursday, Mr. Trump called Ms. Midler a “wacko” over her comments that Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin wants the rest of the country to be like his home state of West Virginia — “poor, illiterate, and strung out.”

If Canada has more than 107 million COVID rapid tests, why can’t I get one?

As COVID-19 case counts kept soaring this week, booster shots and rapid tests were all many Canadians wanted for Christmas. Given their general scarcity, most were left out of luck. So how, nearly two years into the pandemic, did we get here? When it comes to booster shots, the new Omicron variant emerged and exploded quickly, as Canada’s focus was on vaccinating kids, experts say. Canadians scrambling to get their hands on rapid tests are likely wondering where the 88.8 million tests the federal government says it has distributed to the provinces are. The answer to that question is slightly more complicated.

The Queen says she misses her ‘beloved’ late husband Philip – remembering his ‘mischievous twinkle’ and lamenting ‘one familiar laugh is missing’ this year

The Queen says she misses her ‘beloved’ late husband Philip – remembering his ‘mischievous twinkle’ and lamenting ‘one familiar laugh is missing’ this year

The Queen has delivered her most emotional Christmas message ever, paying tribute to her ‘beloved’ late husband Prince Philip and revealing how the Duke of Edinburgh’s ‘mischievous, enquiring twinkle was as bright at the end as when I first set eyes on him’.

The monarch described that there was ‘one familiar laugh missing’ during the festive season this year as she made her most fulsome public tribute to her husband of 73 years and the nation’s longest-serving consort since his death in April aged 99.

Provinces warn record COVID-19 cases reported are underestimations

Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia reported record high COVID-19 case counts on Christmas Eve as Nunavut ordered a full lockdown to prevent further spread of the virus.

Health officials across the country warned the latest numbers are an underestimation and a sign of what is yet to come, and again urged people to rethink large gatherings over the holidays.

Catholic priest tells parishioners who have refused to get jab they are NOT welcome at church for Christmas Mass

He’s a CNN contributor, barely a rung up from pedophile.

A Catholic priest and cable TV contributor has said that unvaccinated parishioners should not gather in church for Christmas Mass because ‘we owe one another the gift of peace’ as the nation copes with the new wave of COVID cases fueled by the Omicron variant.

Father Edward Beck, who is a religious commentator for CNN, said on Friday during a segment of the network’s New Day, that he believes all churches should require proof of vaccination.

‘There’s no supply chain shortage of love and compassion. I think what we are trying to say to people is that ”you have a social responsibility if you do gather.” You know Christian churches, many are gathering this evening, and some are still not requiring vaccination, which I disagree with,’ he said.

The fightback against wokeness has begun

The classroom will be the key battleground in the 21st-century culture wars.

One of the most significant events of 2021 was the revolt of frustrated and angry parents in Virginia, against the teaching of so-called critical race theory in local schools.

The revolt precipitated the shock defeat of a one-time Virginia governor, Democrat Terry McAuliffe, at the hands of Republican Glenn Youngkin in November’s gubernatorial elections. This was not just a serious setback for the Biden presidency, in a state the Democrats won easily in 2020; it also demonstrated, perhaps for the first time in the current phase of the culture wars, that the social-engineering efforts of America’s cultural elites can be contained – and perhaps even defeated.

The White House’s bizarre White supremacist singing nurses

In 1915, Woodrow Wilson approvingly screened Birth of a Nation, a KKK homage, in the White House. That was the last time the White House has seen anything as grotesquely racist as the Biden-approved singing nurses, whose song comes from an homage to the Confederacy.

Jack Dorsey’s big idea for a crypto future

The Twitter founder’s vision could be paradise or hell on earth

Most of the commentary around Jack Dorsey’s departure from Twitter has focused around the company he leaves behind. There has not been much mention about where he’s going to.

Dorsey has resigned as CEO of Twitter in order to spend more time running Square, the other tech behemoth he founded. Now re-branded into a conglomerate called Block, this new empire could conceivably become more significant than the old.

‘Christmas’ Lights or ‘Holiday’ Lights?

The woke’s vocabulary is a weapon in their culture war.

I never had kids and when I look at Facebook friends’ photos of their own I realize that that’s probably a good thing. I am a graduate of the school of hard knocks. I know how tough life can be. Children’s dewy, defenseless skin, their huge eyes, the easy pleasure they take in puppies, dandelions, and bubbles, break my heart. As a parent, I’d be wracked by anxiety.
