Iran: Execution spree as part of political crackdown

According to Amnesty International, more than 1,000 people were executed in Iran in just the first nine months of 2025. This is the highest number documented in 15 years. In a recent statement, the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights described it as a “grave violation of the right to life.”

Charges that the Iranian judiciary deems serious enough to warrant the death penalty include “collaboration with enemy governments,” “armed rebellion against the state,” and “corruption on Earth.”

Fighting Erupts at Gaza as Hamas, Clans Turn Their Animosity for Israel Toward Each Other

While international negotiators finalize a hostage-prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, Gaza is anything but peaceful amid internecine fighting between Hamas and Palestinian clans that Hamas considers rivals for power or traitors to its cause.

Over the weekend, at least 19 and as many as 25 members of the Dughmush clan, a powerful, mafia-like family based in the eastern part of Gaza City, were reportedly murdered after its members clashed with Hamas leaders following the ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Quebec’s Chief Coroner Announces Public Inquiry Into Deadly Trucking Collisions

Quebec’s chief coroner has ordered a public inquiry to examine what’s behind a surge in deadly truck collisions in the province in recent months.

The inquiry, announced Oct. 10, comes amid repeated warnings from trucking industry representatives, who say an increase in unqualified truck drivers in the province is contributing to the spate of deadly accidents. They say some companies, mostly based in Ontario, take advantage of immigrant drivers by paying low wages and forcing them to work below industry standards.

The politicians and Captains of Industry behind this crime have to be jailed and the drivers deported.

Gaza City clashes between Hamas and clan members leave 27 dead

At least 27 people have been killed in fierce clashes between Hamas security forces and armed members of the Dughmush family in Gaza City, in one of the most violent internal confrontations since the end of major Israeli operations in the enclave.

Masked Hamas gunmen exchanged fire with clan fighters near the city’s Jordanian hospital, witnesses said.

A senior official in the Hamas-run interior ministry said security units surrounded them and engaged in heavy fighting to detain them. The ministry said eight its members were killed in “an armed assault by a militia”.

Who are the released hostages? Trump addresses Israeli Knesset

The Israeli military says 20 living hostages have been released by Hamas and have returned to Israel. Until Monday, 48 hostages were still being held in Gaza, although some are believed to be dead.

Shifting global picture disrupted Canada’s national security strategy update: memo

OTTAWA – The Liberal government’s efforts to revise Canada’s national security strategy hit a snag when it became clear earlier this year that many of the assumptions underlying the work were “no longer valid,” a newly released memo reveals.

John Hannaford, the Privy Council clerk at the time, told Prime Minister Mark Carney in the memo that “changes to Canada’s strategic environment” meant work on a draft of the document was based on outdated premises.

The Diverging Cultural Paths of American and Canadian Militaries

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is unlikely to approve of the sight of a Canadian soldier’s authorized long hair and purple goatee.

Hegseth made it abundantly clear during a speech this week given in front of essentially all of the U.S. military’s top brass assembled in Quantico, Virginia that grooming standards in America’s military would be strict.

“No more beardos,” the former Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran told an auditorium packed with officers wearing dress uniforms with stacked decoration ribbons.
