The Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist architecture in Canada is manifested in an interlocking network of student organizations, advocacy groups, and charitable entities, which create permission structures for the normalization of anti-Western sentiment, extremism, terrorism, and antisemitism. The success of this ideologically driven campaign to alter Canadian values and torque Canadian institutions has been broadly visible since Oct. 7, 2023, and can be measured concretely in street demonstrations and in violence directed against Jews, both of which have been driven by the mobilization networks, the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy documented in a report published last month. The larger political effects of these campaigns can also be seen in the changes in government policy as the Liberal Party has embraced the concrete policy demands of a constituency that is organized to infiltrate institutional structures and apply political pressure using the rules of Canadian democracy to support anti-liberal values and undemocratic political actors.
This is not news, and that makes it all the more depressing.
