The publishers of “Gone with the Wind” will amend the latest printing of the classic American novel to include a trigger warning over racism and a new introduction that addresses “white supremacy.”
The London-based publishing house, Pan Macmillan, determined that a cautionary note was necessary to include with Margaret Mitchell’s detailed depiction of slavery in America during the Civil War.

A British Youtuber and self-styled “danger tourist” is among three British men being held by the Taliban’s feared counter-intelligence unit in Kabul, it has emerged.
Miles Routledge, a 21-year-old from Birmingham who goes by ‘Lord Miles’, has over 140,000 followers on Twitter, where he brands himself as a person who will “go to the most dangerous places on Earth for fun.”
So now resources will be demanded to secure his release. Good work.

Imagine you’re a low-wage worker in India who is offered a day’s employment as an extra in a Bollywood film. Your role? To go to a cash point and withdraw some money.
In 2018, several men in Maharashtra state thought they were accepting a bit-part in a movie – but in fact they were being tricked into being money mules, collecting cash in an ambitious bank heist.
The raid took place over a weekend in August 2018, and centred on Cosmos Co-operative bank, which has its headquarters in Pune.
On a quiet Saturday afternoon, staff in the bank’s head office suddenly received a string of alarming messages.
On Friday, police announced the arrest of a suspect believed to be responsible for all three incidents. He has been identified as 46-year-old Abdullah Shirzada.
“Rechte Richter” (“Right-Wing Judges”; no English edition so far) is a book published in 2022 by journalist and trained lawyer Joachim Wagner. Its subtitle asks the question: “A danger to the rule of law?”
Wagner is referring to cases like that of Jens Maier, who was a member of Germany’s parliament, the Bundestag, for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party between 2017 and 2021. After his spell in parliament, he wanted to return to his post as a judge in the eastern state of Saxony.
This, however, didn’t happen, because Saxony’s Justice Minister Katja Meier took the matter to court and was successful: Maier, categorized as a right-wing extremist by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), was sent into early retirement. The verdict is not yet final, however, because the suspended judge can appeal the decision.
Statistics Canada has released its new report about the Canadians level of confidence in Canada’s institutions, finding that recent immigrants are more likely to express confidence in the media and parliament.
According to the report, about two-third (67) per cent of Canadians surveyed reported having a high level of confidence in the police, while the level of confidence is lower for justice system and courts (51 per cent), the federal Parliament (36 per cent) and the Canadian media (33 per cent).

Six people from two families — one of Romanian descent with Canadian passports, the other from India — were found dead in a marsh near the Canada-US border after trying to cross illegally into the United States, police said Friday.
Their bodies were discovered late Thursday near a capsized boat belonging to a missing man from the Akwesasne Mohawk community, local deputy police chief Lee-Ann O’Brien told a news conference.
“The six individuals are believed to be from two families, one of Romanian descent and the other believed to be citizens of India,” she said, adding that they include five adults and one child under the age of three.

After news broke Thursday that the leftist prosecutor Alvin Bragg and his Grand Jury voted to indict Trump, Florida Republican governor Ron DeSantis took to Twitter with a statement defending Trump and letting Americans know he would not help extradite the former President to New York to be arraigned. This news triggered the always unhinged MSNBC ReidOut host Joy Reid who used to occasion to claim DeSantis’s statement was a dog whistle that African Americans like Bragg are controlled by Jewish millionaires.
