CALGARY — The Liberal government has spent over $8 million of taxpayers’ money on gender-neutral, decarbonized rice in Vietnam.
The initiative titled, “Greening our rice: gender-just, low-carbon rice value chains in Vietnam,” is funded through Global Affairs Canada in partnership with Oxfam Canada.
On Tuesday the Canadian Press carried a wire story (written by NP alumna Anja Karadeglija) about Canada joining the Eurovision Song Contest. You will remember Prime Minister Mark Carney practically quaking with delight on Canada Day when he announced that Canada was going to have a 2027 entry in Eurovision, a camp-glam TV ritual that has launched dozens of music careers and that arguably serves as the continent’s nearest approximation to the Super Bowl. The PM even reached into the past to revive the old advertising slogan, “The world needs more Canada!” Why, it almost seemed as if he was using the occasion to reinforce his new European-facing, middle-powers foreign-policy orientation.

Unsurprisingly, Germany’s woke lLeft – always eager to champion the alleged plight of the “oppressed” – views Israel, the only functioning democracy in the Middle East, as the ultimate perpetrator, while framing bloodthirsty Arab aggressors as the true victims. In 2025, five Berlin-based “activists” (four of whom openly identify as “they/them”) ransacked an Elbit Systems facility in Ulm, causing over a million euros in damage. Now standing trial in Stuttgart, they naturally view themselves as the victims.
There were once moral red lines. Children were not to be used to gratify adult desires, and the state certainly wasn’t supposed to facilitate such behaviour. In today’s Scotland, those lines have been erased. LGBT Health and Wellbeing – which receives hundreds of thousands of pounds per year from the Scottish government, the NHS and local councils – runs weekly Edinburgh support sessions where men are encouraged to give ‘human milk to their babies’.

OTTAWA – CTV News has learned former federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is being considered for an appointment as the new chief executive officer of Destination Canada, the country’s national tourism marketing organization.
The possible appointment is expected to be met with harsh criticism from the opposition. It is not clear if Singh has any experience in the tourism industry.
