China Is Rolling Out An Enormous “Weather Modification” System

This week, the Chinese government announced that it plans to drastically increase its use of technology that artificially changes the weather.

Cloud seeding technology, or systems that can blasts silver molecules into the sky to prompt condensation and cloud formation, has been around for decades, and China makes frequent use of it. But now, CNN reports that China wants to increase the total size of its weather modification test area to 5.5 million square miles by 2025 — a huge increase, and an area larger than that of the entire country of India, which could affect the environment on an epic scale and even potentially spur conflict with nearby countries.

‘Essex girl’ removed from dictionary following campaign

The expression “Essex girl” has been removed from a dictionary used to teach English after a campaign by women from the county who described the term as offensive.

According to the Oxford University Press, “Essex girl” was previously defined as “a name used especially in jokes to refer to a type of young woman who is not intelligent, dresses badly, talks in a loud and ugly way and is very willing to have sex.”

It has now been removed from the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, used to teach non-native English speakers, after a campaign group called the Essex Girls Liberation Front said using the expression was “very offensive”.

Peppa Pig: Psychologists find ‘shocking’ levels of violence in children’s TV show

Experts have found “shocking” levels of violence in children’s television shows, including Peppa Pig.

A new study looking into violence featured in animated series and films found that more than eight moments of pain and brutality were inflicted across a selected range of entertainment aimed at children.

The characters appeared sympathetic to the victims of pain in just half of the incidents, with a lack of empathy recorded in several other instances.

The UK immigration minister has blasted lawyers’ tactics after their eleventh-hour legal challenges prevented more than 35 Jamaican murderers, rapists and other criminals from being deported on Wednesday morning.

Speaking on Wednesday, immigration minister Chris Philp said that 13 “dangerous” criminals had been deported in the early hours on Wednesday morning, but many had been left off the flight due to last-minute legal challenges by their lawyers.

Confused fans of the Netflix show The Umbrella Academy have called it ‘political correctness gone crazy’ that Elliot Page will continue playing a female character despite coming out as a transgender man when it’s considered unfair for cis people to play trans roles.

On Tuesday, Elliot – who is best known for his role as Juno, when he played a pregnant teenage girl and went by the name Ellen – announced that he was transgender and that his pronouns are ‘he and they’.

He was universally embraced by Hollywood; stars like Ellen DeGeneres congratulated him and Netflix announced that he would stay on in his role as Vanya Hargreaves, a cisgender lesbian, in The Umbrella Academy, which he has already held for two seasons.

So now she’s a lesbian playing a guy?

Lancashire police reported that they were called to an incident at 9:30am local time after two women were stabbed in a Burnley city branch of popular department store Marks & Spencer.

Ontario government finally gets around to firing wife of family accused of stealing $11M of COVID-19 funds meant for special needs kids

A second senior information technology employee has been fired from the Ontario government after the alleged theft of $11 million in pandemic relief funds, the Star has learned.

Shalini Madan was terminated with cause from her $132,513-a-year job as manager of E-Ministries Support at the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.

She had been suspended with pay since Aug. 11.

Her dismissal came after her husband, Sanjay Madan, was sacked from his $176,608-a-year post as director in the Ministry of Education’s iAccess Solutions Branch in early November.

Dad cops a plea, Mom and the kids go free if they haven’t already fled the country.
